How many shootings have been prevented by a good-guy-with-a-gun?

And I'm not talking about cops and armed security-guards.

1. A case can be made for the church

shooter being stopped before he continued his carnage. There is absolutely no evidence that he was going to stop after the church. He was engaged coming out of the church. Chances are he was on the hunt for his ex-wife and maybe had another social group he could hit.

As far as preventing you have no way of knowing how often an openly armed and/or uniformed person has stopped something like this before it even began.

In general no one person is going to be able to be surprised and then engage successfully an individual with a semiautomatic rifle with a sidearm. I know I would rather be sheltering in place with someone with a gun than without one though.
