https://www.marketwatch.com/story/5-things-harder-to-buy-than-guns-2015-10-02Florida law does not require a background check prior to the transfer of a firearm between private parties , according to the Giffords Law Center, which campaigns for gun control. Nor does the state regulate assault weapons, 50 caliber rifles, or large capacity ammunition magazines, or require the registration of firearms, limit the number of firearms that may be purchased at one time. It does require a three-day waiting period before purchasing a handgun and imposes liability upon persons who fail to secure their firearms to make them inaccessible to children.

Having the common cold is enough to get one treated like a common criminal. To purchase seemingly innocuous cold medications such as Sudafed, consumers must not only show photo identification, but also have the purchase logged in a database. In addition, stores are required to keep personal information about purchasers for at least two years. Its all because the active ingredient, pseudoephedrine, is the same substance used by chemists to cook up the illegal drug methamphetamine or crystal meth. Zyrtec-D and Mucinex-D also contain pseudoephedrine.
In addition, the 2005 Combat Methamphetamine Act limits the amount that can be sold per person and prohibits the purchase of more than nine grams in a 30-day period.

(17,006 posts)1. I'm in Florida and got my doc to write a
scrip for Claritin-D. It contains Sudafed and I got tired of running out.

I had to show my Driver's License and my name and number were put into a computer when buying Mucinex. Other states don't do this.
Florida does have the reputation for being called The Gunshine State, and for good reasons.

Yep. Bought it over the counter here in N.M. with no problem.
Why would it be regulated?

Bought some here in N.M. recently.
Other than logging me into their database there was no problem.
Maybe because I'm a 71 year old disabled guy, I don't look suspicious?
