Now being reported he engaged in "paramilitary exercises" with the Republic Of Florida white supremacist militia near Tallahassee.

Nikolas Cruz, 19, had his first court appearance Thursday afternoon and appeared in shackles and an orange jumpsuit. He is being held without bond.

Cruz was also a member of a white nationalist militia and participated in paramilitary drills in Tallahassee, the leader of the group said on Thursday.

Jordan Jereb told The Associated Press that his group wants Florida to become its own white ethno-state. The group holds "spontaneous random demonstrations" and tries not to participate in the modern world.
