For better or for worse, politics is the system we have through which we are supposed to work to address the common challenges we face as a nation. So yes, we ARE politicizing it. Because if no one politicizes it, that means nobody is actually trying to address the problem!

1. Exactly right.

One of the many inane tropes in modern society that should be met with howls and jeers: "You're politicizing it." Of course it's being politicized - that simply means that it's become part of the conversation concerning the body politic.

If you don't push for action in the immediate aftermath, then nothing will happen for sure.

Do they think we can pray this problem away. Kind of like praying away the gay?

It will take political actions introduced by POLITICIANS. If that can be accomplished without getting political, fine. Have it. But I am not convinced it can be done. So keep the pressure on to get political about it.
