(11,816 posts)Where are DU's gun fetishists? Why aren't they debating these cartoons?

(23,099 posts)so most here support him rather than the good policy of limiting assault weapons and massive ammo buying. Of course if the same thing happened when GW ws president, I'd bet many of the same folks would be shouting for gun control measures. I know gun control isn't real popular right now, but it still makes me sad that people support the person over smart policies. Cult of personality is in full swing in America, on both sides unfortunately.

I guarantee he won't push for any legislation in an election year. Or any other year for that matter.

(8,127 posts)even tho thats like 99% impossible...
But still..
Id like it just to make all these babies cry about their stupid piece of metal that slings other pieces of metal as if its a living breathing entity that deserves glorification.
never fails to amaze me how worked up folks get about things like banning assault weapons *AGAIN*...
seriously yall?
get a grip.
If you need an assault weapon to hunt, you arent doing it right.
If you think an assault weapon will save you from a tyrannical government, you havent been up close to an abrams tank.
with all that said,
Again, people worried about him pushing legislation this year are insecure to say the least...the words paranoid and delusional come to mind.

(53,061 posts)All you do is add tens of millions to the NRA so they can run ads against Democrats, usually with ads that have nothing to do with guns.
If you want gun control laws to pass then you have to have an anti NRA lobby that raises $ 50 million a year and can write 3 million letters in a 24 hour period.
Any Democrat in national office that advocates for Gun Control in the absence of either a well organized anti gun lobby or a split among Republican legislators is conducting political malpractice. Doing so only hangs up all of the progressive agenda on an issue that isn't going to get passed anyway.
The fact taht you are not aware of that and see it as a "cult of personality" simply means that you don't understand what is to be lost by empty policity positions that have no chance of getting passed. What is really sad is that the left, even though we have a workable majority of the population, keeps getting outplayed by the right because of the inability of the left to think strategically, as you have demonstrated. "Cult of personality" my ass.
