I know, it's a common theme about conventions, but it's entertaining in its own right, and the GOP seems not to care much about public persona anymore. Perhaps they feel that they will be doing the strippers of Tampa a favor by throwing some money their way, and that they deserve kudos for stimulating the economy.
Strip Clubs in Tampa Are Ready to Cash In on G.O.P. Convention
The Tampa Bay Times has reported there are 20 strip clubs in Tampa and 50 in the Tampa Bay area.
And Thee DollHouse is all Americana: women plan to slip out of red, white and blue corsets and offer red, white and blue vodka. The headliner that week is expected to bear an uncanny resemblance to a certain ex-governor from a wilderness state, known for her strong jaw and devotion to guns and God.

Angelina Spencer, the executive director of the Association of Club Executives, which serves as a trade association for strip clubs, said an informal survey of convention business in New York and Denver had determined that Republicans dropped more money at clubs, by far.
"Hands down, it was Republicans," she said. "The average was $150 for Republicans and $50 for Democrats."
As further evidence of the clubs' nonpartisan appeal, Don Kleinhans, the owner of the 2001 Odyssey, said when the Promise Keepers, a male evangelical group, came to town years ago, business was rollicking.

(7,044 posts)...since they are such total freaking hypocrites, with greed and sexual piggishness at their core.
Republicans actually need some real Family Values, American Values, not their freaking degenerate hypocritical asshat bullshit.
Free clue for Republicans: it all begins with truth and honesty. Real truth. Real honesty.

(14,180 posts)I don't know if the place is still standing, but back in 1976, there was an adult bookstore\movie place at 39th and Main. Place had one of those giant movie marquees lit by neon where one could put up these big black letters. As the national Repig convention featuring the show-down between Reagan and Ford neared, said bookstore put up a 'Wecome Republicans!" sign. The city made them take it down after about 12 hours, but IIRC, a photographer at the KC Star got a pic of it.
That always makes me laugh to this day

(9,129 posts)Your pardon, but that wasn't who I was talking about. One of the strip clubs will supposedly have a body-double that looks like Sarah Palin and who will presumably be working on-stage and doing lap-dances.
Somehow I doubt that the stripper and the REAL Wasilla Diva will ever meet.
