Gunmaker stocks slide after Dick's halts assault rifle sales. Dick's Up

"Thoughts and prayers are not enough. ... We will no longer sell assault-style rifles, also referred to as modern sporting rifles," Dick's CEO Edward Stack says.

Shares of American Outdoor Brands fall more than 1 percent in premarket trading, while Sturm, Ruger & Co. fall 0.2 percent. Dick's share prices, on the other hand, rise 1.2 percent.

No more all semi-autos? No more semi-autos with detachable magazines? No more firearms?

Inquiring minds want to know.

It is often difficult to perceive anything other than the all or nothing... especially if doing otherwise would allow us context inconvenient to our narratives.

Thankfully, we're all of us rational enough to realize that a process is often made up of several steps (of which, there are always the first few), and that demanding the realization of the eventual goal immediately is more often than not, counter-productive.

Still available according to website.

And the Ruger Gunsite in .308 as well.

Gunsite .308 is a bolt-action, not a semi-auto.

Has a magazine, rail, and a muzzle device..

Looks intimidating.

But it doesn't have the sine qua non of assault-weapon definitions: it isn't semi-automatic.

So here's the question: When assault weapons are gone, what's next on the list? Scary-looking bolt actions or non-scary semi-autos?

I actually think next step will be registration and offsite storage of everything but low cap pistols.

Semi-auto, chambered in .233/5.56, 20-round magazine is standard, magazines available in all sizes up to a 100-round drum.

Do I detect a faint whiff of retail hypocrisy?
