Trump is usually pretty transparent and in this case, it's a game to help the republican in the PA special election. I don't know what the positions are for the candidates in PA. I wonder if the republican would actually embrace the tariff position.

This is traditional "US GOOD, foreign BAD" pandering to his base.

(81,856 posts)He is an opportunist and often does the obvious thing even if it isn't the right thing. He's desperate to not lose a house seat, because it's a sign of his weakness.

(94,513 posts)...while Trump tends to react impulsively, it's never more that lashing out at his perceived attacker. Trump hasn't shown any sign of any involved strategy to win an election, other than Tweets and rallies. And if Saccone loses, Trump will tell his base that he didn't campaign hard enough.
