The "witness" who leaked Mueller's "hit list" might be trying to warn Trump

and any others not yet interviewed that their names are on it -- so that they will know that any mutual communications will be provided.

This could add to the likelihood that Trump (who has been publicly claiming that he isn't a target, and may be deluding even himself) may refuse an interview and others might plead the 5th rather than submit to an interview.

Just a thought I had.

Once I had dwelt on lakes, once I had been beautiful, when I was a swan. Poor wretch! Now black and well roasted!

The cook turns me back and forth; I am roasted to a turn on my pyre; now the waiter serves me. Poor wretch! Now black and well roasted!

Now I lie on the dish, and I cannot fly; I see the gnashing teeth. Poor wretch! Now black and well roasted!

the Mueller camp has been leak proof. I understand that these stories ( there have been several in the past 2 weeks) are from witnesses. But previously there have been none.

I'm skeptical, I think he is just "checking off boxes"

Just look at news story's that cite people "familiar with the intestigation." Those are most likely witnesses or targets.

4. I'm sure Mueller and his team were aware someone would leak the subpoenas.

Sharing information about prosecutors tactics and knowledge of the crime is something criminals do all the time and prosecutors are aware of this.

Mueller's team may have asked someone to leak this as well, as a means to inform the public or put more psychological pressure on the suspects.

He has the power of subpoena and indictment.

Witnesses summoned by him better be looking to talk and make a deal to stay out of jail or get a light sentence.

8. Honestly speaking, though....

....how could those persons name not already suspect that their communication would be the object of a subpoena?

If they have good lawyers, this information should come as no surprise to them.
