speculation: nutberg spends one night in jail for contempt and donnie fires mueller.

donnie uses it as an excuse, saying that investigating is one thing, but putting "good people" in prison is abusing government power and he has to step in and stop it. doesn't want to, really wants to get to the bottom of this russia thing, but someone's gotta stop mueller from throwing some very fine people in prison.

1. But Trump probably doesn't think Nunberg is "very fine people."

Trump fired Nunberg twice, and Nunberg sued Trump for $10K. Nunberg expressed his dislike for Trump and said he's the most disloyal person ever. I really doubt Trump will do anything to keep Nunberg out of jail.

5. it has nothing to do with helping nunberg. donnie would only fire mueller to try to save himself.

he's searching for a pretense. he doesn't care about nunberg. i'm just putting out the theory that the foxnews audience would buy a "mueller is a jackbooted thug" argument.

2. I dont know that hed interfer unless it was someone who could really help him...

I think he’s trying to send signals he needs money for lawyers- and that he might obstruct if protected to do so.
Or he’s already cooperating and faking this becasue he doesn’t want it publicly known. I kind of wonder about Manafort doing that right now.

People have been predicting Trump is about to fire Mueller since the investigation began almost a year ago. It still hasn't happened.

4. Does he pardon him

To obstruct to Protect Stone? And obstruct the investigation. Nunberg's hiding his information on Stone for a reason. And refusing for a reason. Mueller probably knows why already, and will accept his refusal with sending him to jail. If trump pardon's him, the Republicans in Congress then will do nothing. Why? The Republican Congress is compromised by Putin.

Risk even more obstruction and riots in the streets because of Nutberg? In fact, I bet he would let Nutberg rot in prison just to show how he values the investigation.

9. Not when every lawyer in the country agrees with the contempt charge

Yeah, I know what you are saying, but it would be an extremely risky proposition because it would all hinge on making Nutberg out to be a "good guy". I think it's more likely (as was mentioned in another thread) that Mueller set this up to make some other people sweat. And even that is highly unlikely.

13. Im not suggesting firing mueller would work or be a good idea, lol

And yes, yes, I know he can’t fire him directly, the steps he would have to use to get rid of him have been covered at length in many other threads and don’t easily fit in a subject line....

Point is, he’s obviously pining and praying for a pretense to get rid of mueller and the investigation. He’s never going to get a legitimate excuse. But at some point he may well try with whatever story he can. He’s getting desperate.

15. I dont think Donnie can pardon that

Isn’t it contempt of court? It’s a judicial branch thing. Susan McDougal sat for 18 months for refusing to testify (actually for failing to confirm adultery allegations against Bill). No trial, no crime.

16. arpaio was a contempt charge as well, that one he could pardon.
Mon Mar 5, 2018, 10:01 PM

i think the difference is that arpaio's thing was over and done with, all in the past.
with a pardon it's over.

but in this case the contempt is ongoing, as long as he refuses to testify or turn over evidence.
a pardon might get him out of punishment for one day of contempt, but does nothing for the next day's contempt.
