A Chicago high school student was seen handcuffed and led away by police on Wednesday after she participated in the nationwide protests against gun violence.
The Chicago Sun-Times reported that police handcuffed and detained a 16-year-old girl, accusing her of reckless conduct. The girl is a junior at Kenwood Academy, where hundreds of students took part in a national school walkout day to protest gun violence and school shootings.
Police said they took the girl into custody for reckless conduct after she walked out onto Lake Shore Drive and disrupted traffic not specifically because of her participation in the walkout.
Police later released the girl and said they would not be filing charges.

(21,506 posts)If she was running out into traffic. If they were just arresting students who protested there would be a lot more. If she had been hit I am sure there would be outrage the police just stood by and let her play in traffic.
I am certainly open to another explanation of why she would have been singled out, but barring other similar arrests I am going to lean towards the police explanation of events.
Lake shore drive is not a street to be screwing around on.

I also guarantee she was not the only black kid there.
