... their specialty is character assassination. The longer Democrats are in the limelight, the more effective their attacks become, just as they were with Hillary Clinton.
That is SOP with Republicans. They will not change their playbook just because Pelosi is no longer the head of the Democrats in Congress.

(81,475 posts)I'm against forcing any Democrat to preemptively resign their position for bullshit reasons

(111,089 posts)..it has taken years for them to brainwash their followers about Pelosi. No doubt, her replacement would also be attacked but it would take time for his/her name to be mud within the right-wing circles. It's a rallying cry for the right-wingers.

(9,527 posts)She's remarkably good at being Speaker of the House. Look at how many times John Boehner and Paul Ryan have tried to bring up a vote and lost because they couldn't get their caucus together.

(6,019 posts)I don't think she plans to resign anything.
I agree though - Repubs will attack whoever it is. They'll find a reason. That's the #1 play in their playbook.

(111,089 posts)... many are very anti-Pelosi. It is not a winning position for some Democrats to support her in their Districts. That is a reality, in my opinion.

(14,249 posts)That doesnt mean she should step down.

(32,609 posts)Does he actually think for one minute that we would have the Affordable Care Act if not for Pelosi?
I think it was beyond hypocritical on his part. He should of been saying that without Nancy we would not have ACA.

(31,516 posts)She knows how to keep Democrats focused and she can deliver the votes. That's why she is such a threat to Republicans and why they want her out of there.

(31,109 posts)Just like CALEXIT sounds good to some liberals, it is actually a PUTIN operation.
Just like supporting candidates who call for stuff we cant really get but it sounds good, is a waste of resources and power.
Pelosi is a strong, smart democratic WOMAN , no wonder so many are out to get her.
It is NOT the attacks of Pelosi from the right that matter, those work to our favor, it is the CONSTANT nonstop attacks from the LEFT that are IDENTICAL to those made against another powerful WOMAN recently!

(19,429 posts)Deadlocking the White House and Congress would be beneficial to Russia. A deadlock, plus a split Democratic House Caucus would be even better.

(870 posts)Republicans have been and continue to be on "attack mode"- for 153+ yrs. They simply took the Confederacy ideas and embedded them within the Current Republican System, and moved the battle field into OUR Congress.
If people had understood this, they would have seen through the 'Benghazi Spin" which was designed to "smear Hillary" as they knew she's be a Presidential Candidate... That started that attack years before it was time to consider setting up for Presidential Candidacy. They were forced to drop the game, when it was put forth they were the responsible parties to provide funding and security.
The same as they spun the madness of attack upon and against ACA, to build up Republican support, by pushing "drama madness and inciting the people with fear", by spending successive attacks upon and against it, but at no time spending one minute to look at ways to improve it.
They used their inside powers to infect the minds of the Insurance Industry and we can only imagine the numerous ways they invested themselves to undermine ACA. Yet, when they got in office, "they had nothing" except a bill, designed to "kill a mass of people, devastate the elderly and make havoc upon the health of the American people.
But people have to be aware and wise and on guard to the antic's of Republican. AMERICAN PEOPLE is our GREATEST NATIONAL SECURITY COLLECTIVE. Their health is representative as to what is the "Health of Our Nation".
So, I agree with the OP... It matter not who is in the position Pelosi holds, the Republican are ALWAYS in ATTACK MODE.
If one consider's that the CONFEDERATE IDEALIST never truly surrender, they only took a pause to re-strategize and simply moved their "war" into the halls of congress, instead of on a battle field of bullets and bayonets.
They push drama, invoke contention and promote confusions, while they seek to undermine the people, as they play to a mass of people who seek a daily drama fix, and function by selective amnesia as they are prone to be hoodwinked by confabulations to fill the void which selective amnesia creates. When such things happen, facts mean nothing to these Right Wing types, drama suffices to fill the addictive pursuit for contention. They work on the Divide and Conquer premise and have been doing so as a game strategy AGAINST American Democracy and the United States as Nation, since the cessation of a battle field of bullets and bayonets.
As Democrats, the More Aware we become and be, the better we are at withstanding their "attacks".

(24,728 posts)as was Hillary. As typical, common bullies, the right targets those they identify as more vulnerable - women, POC (Obama, Waters).
It won't matter who is in the position as Dem leader. There will be the juvenile name-calling at minimum, and outright swift-boating, at worst.
