Only Americans would say that the opening ceremonies were about the united states

consider how the american network cut out the tribute to the london Underground bombings.

consider that the rest of the ceremonies were about british history and culture.

Consider also, that the "clear shot at american healthcare" also included JK Rowling, bedtime stories and the other globally iconic figures of british literature....

yes, definitely. That HAD to be a shot at americans.

Or maybe it wasn't, and some people simply cannot unwrap themselves from their ego.

I thought the whole thing was pretty cool.

People want to live here, live like us, be us.

If it's good, we invented it.

If it's great, we made it better.

If it's bad we'll bomb the living shit out of it until it's good. Then we'll make it better.

We can accomplish anything and nothing can stop us.

We are exceptional.

All you have to do is believe.

..............I actually said to my wife when they raised the Union Jack and started playing the British National Anthem that there are probably a bunch of Americans out there right now who are OUTRAGED that they weren't raising an American flag and playing the American National Anthem. Probably would be calling up right-wing radio call-in shows at that very moment if any were on the air, talking about how it was a concerted effort on the part of the Olympic committee (with the approval of Obama, because as you know, he hates America) to snub the rightful leaders of the world, the United States.

I bet most of them wondered why they changed the lyrics from, "My country 'tis of thee," to, "God save the Queen," too.

You KNOW it happened. And I bet there were more of them out there than we even care to know.
