<snip>A 2012 blog, which appears to be part of a government class project at Austin Community College, lists the author as Mark Conditt of Pflugerville, Texas. Conditt is believed to have been a resident of Pflugerville, north of Austin.
NBC News could not immediately confirm if the blog belonged to the suspect, but public records show only one Mark Conditt in Pflugerville.
The blog espouses political beliefs, including entries describing why the author believes gay marriage should not be legalized and why the United States should do away with sex offender registration.
"I am not that politically inclined. I view myself as a conservative, but I don't think I have enough information to defend my stance as well as it should be defended," a description of the author reads. "The reasons I am taking this class is because I want to understand the US government, and I hope that it will help me clarify my stance, and then defend it."<snip>

I'm guessing no one told him that blowing people up is not a good argument for or against anything...

(25,332 posts)This is what I learned:
Serial bombers tend to be smart.
They play "catch me if you can".
He didn't have a job, so making bombs was his "challenge".
At least this is what I learned in those true crime shows.

(779 posts)It seems to me that all the mass murderers that have made headlines since Trump and even before have been white conservatives, neo Nazis, etc.

I wouldn't put much stock in what he said at that age. The blog posts don't seem well-thought out. In fact some seem lifted or coached, like someone helped him along. Either way he does not come across as a genius
Its what happened since then. I am guessing it had to do with the loss of his job

(44,576 posts)Conditt wrote, "Homosexuality is not natural. Just look at the male and female bodies -- it would be like trying to fit two screws together and to nuts together and then say, 'see, it's natural for them to go together.'"
...(H)e railed on the government providing women with free abortions, saying, "If you can't provide for a child, then don't have sex." Conditt also talked about doing away with the sex offender registry, commenting "You have to really hate the guy to make him suffer for the rest of his life, even when his prison time is up."
He also blogged in support of the death penalty, saying, "Living criminals harm and murder again -- executed ones do not."
"Living criminals harm and murder again, executed ones do not." A brilliant epitaph: while Conditt may have had doubts about his own sexuality, you sure can't accuse him of being a hypocrite.
