(37,648 posts)She was attacked a lot during Reagan's entire Presidency. She watch her hubby's back and protected him from the suits that sought to use him for their own purposes. She got the Sec of State fired (I think that's who it was). She was even attacked for breast removal and choosing not to get reconstruction (breast cancer).
I didn't like Reagan's policies, but I did think Nancy was a classy lady. She was apolitical, I think. Which is how her kids ended up being liberal. Then later on she supported stem cell research when the wacko extremists didn't want that done (using "unborn people!" ), which helped put a conservative stamp of approval on it.
I like Ronnie Reagan a lot. He's on MSNBC sometimes, but I don't know why he doesn't appear more often. He's really smart & articulate. Wish he had a podcast or something.

(68,576 posts)She kind of grew on me after she was first lady. I think that devotion to him when he was deep in dementia was part of what got me to find things to admire about her. (My fondness of hearing Ron Jr didn't hurt either.)
I like it when we find things to agree on!
