(7,645 posts)Products of a public school system which I have a whole lot more confidence in now. One always hears a lot of "kids nowadays ..." talk but listening to these young citizens leaves little doubt.
I just hope they still have time to do their trig homework with all this running around the country they are doing.

(3,515 posts)A lot of people think their children should do better. But the reason their children aren't doing well is because the competition is pretty strong.
My children went to public schools and have done very, very well. I'm proud of them. Most people will agree with me about their own children. Most children excel in public schools. The child's performance in school reflects the home environment.

(6,233 posts)These "kids" have the potential to change the gun laws for starts.
Make universal healthcare a reality.
Make the Dreamers promises come true.
Change in inequality of wealth in America.
Protect the environment.
Abandon use of non-renewable resources.
Support and implement solar, wind and other renewable energy technologies.
They have a life time to do these things.
BUT first they can change the Congress and dark money in politics.
Making the other changing possible.

They should be encouraged by all of us.

(6,834 posts)We simply won't let them give up! Especially when they have to unwind so much legalized Oligarchy for the last forty years! They also have to reverse global warming and make peace blossom in the Middle East. (as Jared will be unavailable, what with spending the rest of his life in the Trump Family cell block.)

(35,823 posts)Left to right: Jaclyn Corin, Alex Wind, Emma Gonzalez, Cameron Kasky, David Hogg
I think Jaclyn usually wears glasses. I've seen Emma speak a few times. She has a militant type of speaking style.
JMO, but David Hogg is one to watch (well, all of them are, really), but especially him because when he speaks, it is with such gravitas. His determination is formidible. There's a lot there, I sense.

(30,782 posts)They have gone from being bright kids with bright futures to a spot on the cover of Time. As smart and resourceful as they are, they never expected this! And they have not been swayed away from their message and goal. Let's help them all we can.

(50,588 posts)There aren't any pro-gun students on it, so obviously it's bad.
Maybe we could put four or five pro-gun activists carrying their favorite shootin' irons in front of a pile of gunned-down high school students. That should cover both sides to the satisfaction of all, I should think.
