LONDON (AP) — Long lines formed Tuesday and travelers were delayed at St. Pancras, the central London rail station where reporters, Olympic workers and fans with tickets depart for the Olympic Park in east London.

The delays caused two AP reporters and scores of other travelers to take at least 50 minutes to make the 6- to 7-minute ride out to the Olympic Stadium. Other riders complained on the social networking site Twitter about delays up to 2 hours, and barricades were put up to control the crowds at the train station.

Hours later, officials acknowledged that delays up to an hour were continuing Tuesday night, blaming signal problems.

Three days before the Olympics officially begin, London's extensive subway and train system is facing a major test with officials expecting up to 3 million more journeys a day during the games. ...............(more)

1. My sister who's over here from Oz didn't have that problem

She travelled from Watford on the rail, changed at Willesden Junction and shot straight through to Stratford. She seemed to be equally impressed by the sheer size of the Westfield shopping centre there which is apparently ten times the size of the one she thought was large in Perth.

Road issues continue to be a diifferent matter. Went out for Rock 'n Roll in north London last night - live band sans there boogie woogie keyboard player. Their keyboard player lives in Stratford and the police had closed the exit from his own road. ****'s

3. My 28 year old daughter moved to London to marry a Brit

Four years ago. They live in Wanstead, four miles from the Olympics in Stratford. We have laughed a lot about how they built Westfield just in time for her residence there!
BTW, yesterday she went in a pub crawl in celebration of a coworker's birthday and reported NO tube delays.
