"The Olympics are a peaceful celebration of our warlike nature."

Ok, OK.... I know he's a turkey... but the man can write ( much better than he can speak, as a matter of fact) and I have to admit reading him consistently is one of my few ideological "guilty pleasures."

He's most impressive when he's writing about stuff that isn't explicitly political. Like here. I'm sorry: this is *good* stuff, imo. Certainly the best thing I've seen about the Olympics.

So what should be my punishment? Anyone else have a freeper they like to read?

The Olympics are a good example. The Olympics are a peaceful celebration of our warlike nature.

The Opening Ceremony represents one side of the Olympic movement. They are a lavish celebration of the cooperative virtues: unity, friendship, equality, compassion and care. Friday's ceremony provided musical tributes to the global community and the Olympic spirit. There were Pepsi commercial-type images of the people from different backgrounds joyfully coming together. There were pious speeches about our common humanity and universal ideals.

And there was a lot of dancing. Because we're social, semi-herdlike creatures, we take a primordial pleasure in the sight of a large number of people moving in unison.>>>>> more at:
