This is the kids new goal--to get involved in the midterms. They are pushing lawmakers to hold townhalls.

(17,003 posts)Every teen I've ever known loved to piss off stupid adults. When they are spot on it makes them work at it just a little harder.

(1,020 posts)For a town hall in my area since he was sworn in last year. He has yet to schedule a live on. He did have a phone one at noon last week....while I was at work that I could not attend. If they can get him to have a live town hall i might have to take a day off from work so I can attend.
If he does schedule one I know if will be mid day and 100+ miles away.

(58,649 posts)or something similar. They are certainly organizing and pushing their agenda in the right directions. March, organize, meet, vote.
I know that they are mostly non-partisan, but much of what they want is right out of what should be the Dem party agenda. They are certainly against anybody on the side of the NRA, and that is mostly R's lately.

(51,590 posts)since the shooting since the students don't have activism experience and there was a lot to do(get the PR, the permits for the protests, the proper authorities/channels, govt contacts, etc.) especially in such a short period of time. I don't know how they can personally deal with the grief, continue attending school and doing well and go speak to politicians, the media, and travel all over the country.

(2,738 posts)They've asked supporters to go ask their Congresscritter for town halls on April 7th and to video them asking. If they don't agree, announce they are inviting their opponent to appear on that date.

My hope is that voters in my district get smart and elect whoever wins the Democratic Primary.

(6,552 posts)It was unreal to listen to the videos in this thread. The clueless, out of touch idea about high school aged people and the sanctimonious and vicious comments are nauseating. Just because they have no emotions other than anger and have the barest grasp of modern technology does not mean that our kids do not. It takes "bigly" people to do this to those kids who have first hand experience with school shootings or have lived in fear of their lives just because they go to school. They are a bunch of bottom feeders!
