First advertiser boycotts Laura Ingraham after her ugly attack on David Hogg

At least one advertiser is pulling its sponsorship of Laura Ingraham’s program after the Fox News host attacked a survivor of the Parkland school shooting.

The syndicated talk radio host, who also broadcasts weeknights on Fox News, gloated over reports that gun safety advocate David Hogg had been rejected by four colleges despite stellar grades.

The 17-year-old Hogg responded to her insults by urging a boycott of her Fox News program’s advertisers.

The first advertiser to drop Ingraham was pet food maker Nutrish, which responded to Hogg’s post and to numerous individual Twitter users.

So far, none of the other 12 advertisers identified by Hogg has announced any plans regarding sponsorship of Ingraham’s conservative broadcasts.

1. They'll eventually cave to pressure, like Keurig did to Hannity.

I hope he does succeed though, since he appears to be driving the MAGATs crazy!

.

Notice how she got his GPA wrong, and said 4.2, when David received a 4.1.

It's just the subtle digs that these assholes make that pisses me off!

Any student should be proud of a 4.2 GPA —incl. @DavidHogg111. On reflection, in the spirit of Holy Week, I apologize for any upset or hurt my tweet caused him or any of the brave victims of Parkland. For the record, I believe my show was the first to feature David...(1/2)

Edit: add second part of tweet.

... immediately after that horrific shooting and even noted how "poised" he was given the tragedy. As always, he’s welcome to return to the show anytime for a productive discussion. WATCH:

Top universities are just hard to get into.

I will note that Emma Gonzales is attending New College, one of the best schools in Florida.

8. Some colleges reject top kids to protect yield.

So the college will look at an applicant and say - nah, this applicant is unlikely to actually attend. The kid gets rejected not because they aren’t qualified but because the university doesn’t want their yield numbers to be too low (number of kids that accept an offer of admission.)

Other universities have to reject just based on numbers - they’ve already filled their class with applicants for a certain field of study. I think the UC system does that.

than they were back in the 1970s, 80s and 90s. Hogg was also applying to top notch state universities like UCLA and UC-Berkeley as an out of state student. If he was a California resident instead of Florida, he likely would have had a much better shot at getting into one or both of those two schools.

My daughter is a high school sophomore and I went to a presentation by the woman that is the head college guidance person at her high school and it seems mind-bogging how tough some top universities are to get into these days. (it was for parents of juniors, but nobody kicked me out) Top schools admit 4-6% of applicants, and specific majors at top schools are much more selective than that. My daughter had some interest in musical theater, but if you want to study Musical Theater at the University of Michigan, they admit 13-15 kids out of 5,000 applicants/year - and, it's much harder if you're female, since somewhere around 80% of applicants are female. So 3/10 of 1% of applicants per year get into UM in a good year when they admit 15 kids. However, if 80% of applicants are female and 8 of the kids admitted are female, then the odds are 8 out of 4,000, or 2/10 of 1%. And, you still need to get into the school academically.
