I find it odd that there are any fund raisers overseas. Something just seems fishy about that. madinmaryland Jul 2012 #2

I hope the FEC inverstigates those donations. I suspect there might some some foreign money mixed in there which is illegal of course.

Given the SCOTUS ruling on Citizens United, I am really concerned about "corporations" giving to candidates. I see that same #$%^ing thing happening here.

Imagine, for example, what the response would be if President Obama went to France to a fund raiser.

Yeah, we know exactly what the response would be. Legal or not, it would stink to high heaven.

CU opened the door for unlimited (and undisclosed) foreign contributions on top of everything else. That money is supposed to be "no communication" with the campaign, but if Willard has people who can figure out how to keep him in a max 13.8% tax bracket, surely they are smart enough to launder foreign cash as well.

Just a little 'investment' perhaps, so that Romney will help out with Iran? If Netanyahu wasn't in charge I might think otherwise.

I heard on NPR about the mormons posthumously baptizing jews who had died. The mormons were told to quit.

not currently. Jews form one of the most reliably democratic voting blocs of any group. Jews have historically worked for liberal causes in this country- think the Civil Rights Movement. Mormons are a reliably pro-republican voting bloc and didn't even allow blacks full participation in the Church until 1978.

What are you saying they have in common?

He probably believes that Obama's policies regarding Isreal have alienated a substantial number of Jewish voters who normally vote Democratic. By taking a strong stand in support of Isreal, he is trying to pick up these votes.

As a political matter, the strategy is not without merit. IMO, Obama will not do as well with Jewish voters this time compared with 2008.

He only does things that are legal, my friend, like the amount of taxes he claims he pays. Like firing all the illegals doing his lawns because he's "running for Office for Christ's sake!"
