"that the president had fathered an illegitimate child"

Ex-NYC doorman paid to quash Trump tryst rumor?

The Associated Press confirmed the details of the Enquirer's payment through a review of a confidential contract and interviews with dozens of current and former employees of the Enquirer and its parent company, American Media Inc.

(ex-doorman) Dino Sajudin got $30,000 in exchange for signing over the rights, "in perpetuity," to a rumor he'd heard about Trump's sex life -- that the president had fathered an illegitimate child with an employee at Trump World Tower, a skyscraper he owns near the United Nations.

The contract subjected Sajudin to a $1 million penalty if he disclosed either the rumor or the terms of the deal to anyone.

55. Interesting question
Thu Apr 12, 2018, 12:14 PM
Apr 2018

For the most part, I have no idea what the politics/religion/sexual orientation of my clients might be, nor what standard of "ethics" might apply. I've done work for (and against) pornographers and preachers, which are both different species of selling fantasies as far as I'm concerned. I don't know which ones might be "left" or "right", with the exceptions where politics is part of the mix, as with my representation of clients against Donald Trump and Jerry Falwell. But politics is generally irrelevant to what I get hired to do. At the intersection of "trademark claims" and "free speech", you get all types.

I haven't noticed much of a difference.

For any of these transactions of "I will pay you to keep a secret", I don't see much of an "ethical" issue on either side of the transaction. For example, I recently dealt with a situation in which a person with a recipe for a baked product wanted to hire a commercial baker to make the product in quantity, and wanted to ensure that the commercial baker did not disclose the recipe or use the recipe on its own. So this idea of "it's awful to pay someone to keep quiet" or somehow a violation of First Amendment rights strikes me as basically silly.

More pointedly, is it "ethical" to:

1. Pay someone money to keep quiet about a sexual encounter, or

2. Demand money from someone under the threat of exposing the sexual encounter.

I don't see a paragon of moral virtue on either side of that type of transaction. I mean, who is acting more "ethical"? The person making the payment, or the person who takes the money and then later decides they want to expose it anyway?

Here are some good rules to live by:

A. Don't do things that you might have to pay people to be quiet about, and
B. Don't take money from people not to talk about things you want to talk about.

Just because two people are arguing about something, doesn't make either one of them "right" in some broader sense.

What I do notice, and could go on for hours about, is the unfortunate tendency to confuse legality and morality, and that the most abused word in the English language is "fairness". I have never come across a person left, right, up, down or otherwise, who did not define "fair" as anything other than an outcome in their favor. And I mean never.

When I am doing my chores, my mind has free rein. This came across my mind some time ago. I shared the thought. There are male prostitutes, there are sex shows. People of all sexes are available to perform. Here is a story to a link that sort of illustrates where I'm coming from:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5478765/Trump-partied-club-known-simulating-bestiality-S-M-showers.html

I don't think of tripe as bisexual, but I do think he might be narcissistic or sociopathic. He does what he wants, with no regard of appearance, or consequences.

Absolutely no humor or sarcasm.

Why? Because rump is a liar who never tells the truth and if he is being blackmailed we would not know until he did something unpleasing to his owner, Putin.

Can you IMAGINE the right allowing any democrat to stay in office under these circumstances? In fact, can you imagine the Democrats allowing this? Never.

https://www.cnn.com/2018/01/23/politics/tony-perkins-trump-affairs-mulligan/index.html

Washington (CNN)Tony Perkins, the president of the conservative Family Research Council, contended Tuesday that
the evangelical community has given President Donald Trump a "mulligan" when it comes to his personal behavior.

"Yes, evangelicals, conservatives, they gave him a mulligan. They let him have a do-over. They said we'll start afresh
with you and we'll give you a second chance." Perkins said in a interview on CNN's "Erin Burnett OutFront."

Perkins' remarks come after a Wall Street Journal report that Trump's lawyer, Michael Cohen, formed a private
LLC to pay a former porn star in exchange for not speaking publicly about an alleged sexual encounter with the
then-candidate.

It will be a tragedy for human beings if Trump's actions create an apocalyptic event. I would like to see the faces of those people however, when their version of Christ on the White horse does not materialize and they are stuck here with the rest of us through the so called "tribulations".
