I was thinking about all the kids who grew up with Obama as president and now have Trump

The thing about most kids is that they are trying to figure out what they think of the world and usually don't care too much what their parents think. So for the most part they are a clean slate politically and for 8 years they saw Obama who was eloquent, brilliant, even tempered, compassionate, likable, fun and well prepared for the job of being president. To these young folks Obama = Democrat. Now they see Trump and he is a fucking walking disaster on every level! Racist, mean spirited, egocentric, shallow, dumb, incompetent, out of control, sexist and a fucking crook! After 8 years of Obama they are seeing this shit show and they are thinking Trump = Republicans especially since the GOP is in a big bind having to back him up in fear of losing their base. So these two mean have shaped their impression of both parties. There could not be a bigger contrast to someone who isn't already prejudiced in their thinking of the world. Trump is causing lasting damage to the GOP, no doubt about it and Obama was a great role model / ambassador for the Democratic Party for this generation. A generations views of the world has taken shape and this can only mean great things for the US for quite some time.

They're lucky they will always remember Obama. A younger generation won't. n/t pnwmom Apr 2018 #1

It should have happened, but it didn’t. I hope you are right, but at my age, I don’t make predictions. We have never been here before. The Republicans are way past off the rails. The media is I don’t even know. Our options are growing thin. I am very worried

It was their first time voting and voted absentee ballot as they were away at college. They were raised on Obama and colored in electoral in maps on election nights on 2008/12...
Needless to say they are horrified by this is-ident. They are in major east coast cities and attend protest and rallies in D.C. on a regular basis. Today is the March for Science. Their friends are angry, fired up , and ready to fight for anything and everything against this false presidency. These are two major east coast universities in big cities, including D.C., so it may be different in other locales. I'm told that in their campuses it is the curse of death to admit you are a rethuglican & the Rethug clubs at both schools are now defunct with under 5 members.
When I speak to their friends it is encouraging that they are not taking this lying down and are so proactive about their opposition. I'm sure the example of President Obama had a lot to do with this. It gives me hope.
