NOTHING will be "good" or "OK" as long as Trump remains in power. Talk about how we are "willing to work with him" simply!y normalizes the SOB in the eyes of the majority of Americans who are "less political" and is interpreted by the Visigoths in the Trump regime as weakness.
Until Trump is removed by whatever means necessary, there are no other "more pressing" issues. To those who will say this is "politically irresponsible" I say it is irresponsible to pretend normalcy when the last 15 months have been a surreal nightmare for people with an IQ above room temperature.
Currently, our energy seems best spent by engaging in an unprecedented GOTV effort to take back, not just the Houses, but the Senate, multiple governorships and state and local offices up and down the ballot. And, we need to tell people what we intend to do next year --- after we get rid of Trump!
Finally, yes,of course, this "just can't be done". So, get out of our way while we do it.

(11,885 posts)Ever, and he's the most corrupt person we've ever seen in his position. He needs to be removed from office , and held accountable for his actions, or putin has won. Those that support someone like this has no business in our government, ever, and we need to make sure they are voted out of office, or this will continue to get much worse. Vote out ALL republicans out of office .

(5,210 posts)"by whatever means necessary," --- the first utterance of that phrase was widely interpreted to include violence. I'm positive that's not what YOU meant.

(100,076 posts)Trump is a symptom. The real guy who we need to worry about is the one in the Kremlin. As long as Putin's in power, if Trump is proving to be useless, Putin will just replace him with someone who is a more useful idiot to him. He's the real threat to this country that we need to worry about. He's got Trump and the entire GOP under his wing, ready to do his every evil bidding. Putin is the most dangerous man in the world right now, and that is a scary thought.

(22,129 posts)Basically if we protect Social Security and other like programs, we are protecting ourselves from not just people going hungry and getting thrown out of their homes, we're preventing the 1% of the 1% from totally setting the rules for all of us. After all, this is a democracy, lets prove it!

(14,173 posts)It doesn't matter if he is led away in chains. The damage is complete. The Tea Party was just the dipping toes in the water for the racists, fascists. It was the beginning of the indoctrination of middle America. Up is down. Bad is good.
Now that Trump has stayed in this long, he's normalized it enough the point that he has at the very least proved it CAN happen. I'm sure folks like David Duke, and his circle, may have been feeling depressed after the first African American was voted in as POTUS. Now another extremists right winger/ mob boss, can win again...and again....each time chiseling away more civil rights, while appealing to nationalism and militarism, and nativism.
I can even imagine it clear as day. Years after Trump is gone from Washington, some new charismatic fascist will rise in the Republican party and promise to fulfill the agenda of his greatest influence and greatest American President: Trump. Especially if RW hate radio and Fox News and now Sinclair Broadcasting continues to also grow and spread its propaganda.

(14,491 posts)So long as big money is in politics, has outsized media ownership, and supports the GOP - constant diligence will be required. The American public has a very short memory and can always be easily duped.

(43,166 posts)until we reverse this mess and realize as a country that our sovereignty has been violated, that the fraudulent election has cast choices upon us that freely elected leaders did not make, and that everything since 2016 needs to be reexamined and made more fair, more middle of the road, more mainstream, more American.
I don't know how you do that. But waiting 40 years for the dirt to wash away with the suds is weak political water.
