I hate the term prolife

It’s s term to make right wingers feel morally superior. I wish the media would call them out and pose these questions to them:

If you are so pro-life, then why are you against programs that would help that born child (food sustenance, health care, educational assistance, housing programs, etc..)?

If you are so pro-life then why are you okay with police officers killing unarmed black men?

If you are so pro-life then why are you against immigrants who are trying to escape their countries so that they don’t die?

If you are so pro-life then why are you okay with a possible innocent man getting the death penalty?

If you are so pro-life then why don’t you care about civilian casualties in war zones?

If they were really Pro-Birth they would be fighting for more funding to support better prenatal care. In some areas of the US, infant mortality and stillbirth rates rival the 3rd world. You don't see these people marching in those areas or demanding better care.

They use the term as a rhetorical device (an appeal to emotion). It works extremely well for them. Now while I do not think they happened upon this by accident, I do have to question how they can continue to use the term in the face of all the counter examples you have provided. The only answer must be the media you want to use to call them on their bullshit is complicit in the use of the term. They control the narrative. The media willingly allows them to control the narrative. It does not help that Sinclair owns the majority of this country's media outlets.

Frank Luntz and his ilk have been mining the language with these kinds of buzz words to fram narratives for decades.

In one respect, it has been done for ages. Repubs have recently dialed up the hate speech.

No, it’s insurance that workers pay into, so there’ll be some income in their later years.

I just didn't know the origins of the buzz words. My point was the media are complicit, which makes it damned near impossible for us to change that narrative (at least in the immediate future).

Because if you claim to support both, I want nothing to do with the conversation. Guns take away life. And you cannot be both, that is the very definition of hypocrisy.

It's a meaningless propaganda term, much like "conservative." Look up the meaning of "conservative" in the dictionary. You won't find a lot of Republicans to whom it applies.

If someone comes up to me with this "pro-life" routine, I just ask them, "are you a vegetarian?" And then, "do you favor abolishing the death penalty?" In the case of Republians, who usually answer "no" to one or both questions, then I just tell them they have negated any argument that could possibly be used to call them "pro-life." If they are for denying abortion rights to women, let them say so, and not cowardly hide behind a propaganda slogan that doesn't even apply to them.

...access to the full range of women's medical care.

Framing all the social arguments is something the RW mastered decades ago, with a big assist from Newt Gingrich. We need to take back our language and reframe the issues.

Democrats are not "pro-abortion", we are "in favor of women having access to the full range of women's medical care." Necessary medical care for women includes contraception, prenatal and postnatal care, and at times abortion. No need to go into details for the rabid, as they are against all of it anyway.

They are not really "pro-life," they are merely "pro-birth."
