that back and forth on Twitter last November.
One Twitter user suggested Bernie Sanders as an example of a credible male authority figure.

A woman enjoys intercourse with her man as she fantasizes being raped by 3 men simultaneously, one line from the essay reads.
A spokesperson for Sanderss presidential campaign dismissed the essay at the time, calling it a "dumb attempt at dark satire in an alternative publication.

Regarding the accusations: I've been following Reid for years. She's brilliant. Also a Harvard grad. Her blog was hacked. Just look at the "unearthed" articles. Nothing of substance whatsoever, and anyone who follows her knows she doesn't post childish, pointless things like that. Her haters are conflating the fake/hacked blog posts with her commentary on Charlie Christ (which she acknowledged and apologized for last year).
If MSNBC fires her, I'm completely done with the network--and yes, I would miss Rachel and LO, but enough is enough!

(145,231 posts)The attacks on Joy Reid by certain groups are sad https://medium.com/@investigator_21314/the-lynching-of-joy-ann-reid-by-the-bernie-left-c7de005a19fb
Instead of analyzing why POC were critical of Bernie, or why Bernie refused to campaign among POC, they started to harass and intimidate black Twitter users.
The list of victims to this aggressive crowd of Bernie supporters is long by now: Joy Ann Reid, Donna Brazile, Jehmu Greene, Neera Tanden, Kamala Harris, Maxine Waters, Yamiche Alcindor, Zerlina Maxwell, and less known Twitter users: Angry Black Lady (Imani Gandy), T_FisherKing, Mr Dane/ Mr Weeks, Sir James, Ange_Amene, Bravenak and many, many more.
What these people have in common is that
A: theyre POC,
B: theyre at times very critical of Bernie Sanders.
This in itself is enough for ongoing extreme harassment, stalking, threats, intimidation and worse.

Why didn't we notice these atrocious posts by Joy back when they supposedly occurred? I'm surprised that nobody noticed.

(7,809 posts)has sparked a giant smear now?
That's reaching a bit too far. If Jane Sanders was that pissed off last November, why didn't she finish it then? Instead we now have a smear job that took the Sanders people 5 months to set up and get going....
Nope. Not buying it. This smacks of human engineering, hacker mindfuck, a wedge pushed between two liberal camps, the usual Roger Stone job, whatever you want to call it. It does not make sense, it's ridiculous, and nobody old enough to drive a car should fall for it.

Joy's been criticizing various capital-P Progressive behaviors, and they of course don't like her for it. So naturally their response is the usual hostile aggression, since changing losing tactics to instead develop relationships and form alliances is out of the question. But, as in 2016, 2017 and now 2018, they're both weapon of the right and dissident left aggressor against mainstream Democrats, but not leader.

(9,527 posts)Maybe it is a conspiracy, but her previous comments, again that she has apologized for, makes it hardly impossible that she would have said these things.
She says she has evidence that she was hacked. Let her present that and then we will have a better evaluation. But she needs to to do so soon.

(16,953 posts)own seething anger at Joy Reid for the crime of not being a Bernie fan,
"I didn't answer your biased reporting about Bernie during the last 2 years" -- Holy cow, that's how sheltered the Sanders' were. They think they can "answer" reporters for so-called "biased" reporting, but have no problem with providing their own biased commentary -- obviously confident that no one is allowed to question THEIR biased statements. Really shameful, but a huge clue to their privileged status.

(16,953 posts)Privileged is right, and it looks like not just generic white privilege, which is certainly bad enough. Why do they think they can malign Democrats -- or anyone for that matter -- without any pushback or repercussions? It is a bizarre mindset of entitlement that only they can have a say but others have to be talked to.

(145,231 posts)The wayback machine does not guarantee anything https://burningbird.net/the-joy-reid-saga-the-wayback-machine-cannot-guarantee-authenticity/#.WuDw69w6PTy.twitter
The Wayback Machine is an invaluable historical record of the web. Through it, Ive been able to recover past writings lost because of all the many changes Ive made to my web site. Its a wonderful way of exploring the webs history.
However, the Wayback Machine is not, and never has been, a definitive source of the authenticity of what it captures on the web. It has access to a web page at a specific location at a specific time but no special privilege that allows it to determine the authenticity of the author of the content in the page.
As noted by Chris Butler at the Internet Archives, home organization for the Wayback Machine:
When we reviewed the archives, we found nothing to indicate tampering or hacking of the Wayback Machine versions. At least some of the examples of allegedly fraudulent posts provided to us had been archived at different dates and by different entities.
Pages archived at different dates and by different entities... This statement is key to understanding the difference between Wayback Machines archival functionality as separate from the medias assumption of Wayback Machine as Super Authenticator, able to leap tall metadata with a single bound!

(22,912 posts)I'm not saying Joy wasn't hacked, but she seems to claim the hacks inserted or altered blog posts during the time frame when internet archives captured screen shots of them. I'm hard pressed to think of any Sanders supporters who had a vendetta against Joy Reid well over a decade ago.
Meanwhile we know damn well that the Russians want Americans at each other's throats regarding politics. Their trolls and bots were making thousands of posts about Black Lives Matter from both sides of a supposed controversy, for example. They want to discredit democracy itself. That is their long term game plan across the borders of all of the western Democracies.
And the Right in America has never been shy about dirty tricks against progressives either. When it comes to Franken, when it comes to Reid, we on DU know enough to not rush to condemnations without conclusive evidence. When it comes to "Bernie Supporters" though if you can even imagine an allegation to make many seem to believe it's absolutely fair game to run with it. Unity, who needs it? We can have our blue wave in November without it, right?
