(62,325 posts)Ventura Star (CA) yesterday and an article about the protests, but the text made no comment about the 'soldiers' on the streets of Anaheim. At least they published the photo but I wondered why they made no comment about it.

(14,180 posts)these camo uniforms. However, there was some tin-foil discussion on other threads that some of these forces might be either CA National Guard troops (pretty much debunked) or Blackwater-XE mercenaries (not debunked but not thoroughly vetted either, IIRC).
I've been nose-to-nose with regular LAPD at Occupy protests (like the May 1 General Strike in downtown LA) and that's plenty scary as it is. I've never come face-to-face with this type of cop yet.

Almost as chilling as the people who refuse to believe we ARE in a police state.

(14,180 posts)from the obviously militarized police.
To wit, the Anaheim City Council is composed of members elected 'at large' and who hail from the largely white and affluent Anaheim Hills area. West Anaheim (where the shootings and demonstrations have been taking place) is largely Latino, poor and working class. West Anaheim is distinctly unrepresented on the Anaheim City Council.
