Why are there so many duplicate posts here?

This has been mentioned before, but just now there are several OPs about trump's lawyer, and there were several OPs just recently about Michelle Wolf, the Starbucks incident, and many others, basically all saying the same thing.

I think it's fascinating.

It's probably only a matter of time before we see posts titled, "Bernie Sanders will be in his Senate office in the Dirksen Building from 8:00 to 8:45 this morning. He will order coffee with milk and no sugar, and make a few profound, predictable pronouncements!!"

When a member ONLY posts about one subject, it's either a case of a one-track mind or a paid trouble-blogger. We all see the posts from dormant members who awake from their suspended animation the instant there is an OP with any criticism of GMO foods or Monsanto in general. I appreciate that some people think Sanders has something to contribute to the public discourse, but a few think that ONLY Sanders has something to contribute, and that statements or actions of others are of little consequence. Bernie said this, Bernie did that, Bernie U Akbar. It almost reminds me of the scene in the film "Inside Man," where the hostage takers inside the bank played a continuous tape of speeches of Enver Hoxha to confuse the eavesdropping cops.

and the same topic kept getting added by other posters for hours after the initial story broke.

I can see how someone might miss seeing that there was already an open topic, so maybe there be a "duplicate" button that would let the OP or a monitor delete the post

If one does and sees that what they're about to post is already up then perhaps they should comment to kick it back to the top of the forum. But then that's just my opinion.

I remember when the first page moved quite rapidly. Now an op might only have 40 or so posts, but it will still languish on the first page for over a day. Du seems to have slowed way down, and I have not been here that long.

that I want to post, but a few times someone beat me to it, or posted it within three minutes of my post.

And, other times, I have posted an article and got zero comments .... then the same article is posted by someone else an hour later and gets 25 comments!

Kinda makes me feel insignificant sometimes ............
