Vekeselberg gave hundreds of thousands of dollars to Cohen beginning in January 2017.
Avenatti has posted documents . Vekselberg put the money in the SAME ACCOUNT that Stormy's payoff came from.
Remember when all this started and people kept saying that the Stormy case was just a distraction?
Here are the documents.

Here's CNN's story now:
https://www.cnn.com/2018/05/08/politics/robert-mueller-russian-oligarch-payments-michael-cohen/index.html
(CNN)Special counsel Robert Mueller's investigators have questioned a Russian oligarch about hundreds of thousands of dollars in payments his company's US affiliate made to President Donald Trump's personal attorney, Michael Cohen, after the election, according to a source familiar with the matter.
Viktor Vekselberg, chairman of asset manager Renova Group, is an oligarch close to Vladimir Putin, and last month the Trump administration placed him on a list of sanctioned Russians for activities including election interference. The purpose of the payments, which predate the sanctions, and the nature of the business relationship between Vekselberg and Cohen is unclear.
The scrutiny of the payments could add to the legal troubles for Cohen, whose home and office were raided last month as part of a criminal investigation by federal prosecutors in Manhattan. In court documents, the prosecutors said at least part of their inquiry stemmed from a referral from Mueller's office.
The questions asked of Vekselberg suggest that Mueller investigators have been examining some of Cohen's business relationships as part of the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election. Vekselberg is one of two Russian oligarchs the FBI stopped earlier this year after their private jets landed in New York-area airports as part of Mueller's investigation.

(4,341 posts)pence is worst, all that trump does is create enormous anxiety in the country and the world, but as we have all witnessed, that guy has very little in his brain, he doesn't understand policy, he doesn't understand any of the bills he signs, he is just concerned on how he can funnel money to his accounts and how he pays the Russians.
They have to be defeated through the vote, ALL OF THEM MUST GO! - The Democrats need to be "street smart" to anticipate the cheating the republicans, and the Russians are planing for the midterm elections and 2020, but they all must go.
If trump is removed from office and pence, with his "good old boy" act takes over the presidency it will be tougher to remove them all, and maybe I have said it before, but THEY ALL MUST BE REMOVED FROM OFFICE. We need Democrats to take over the two houses and the Presidency in 2020.

(13,462 posts)Either the evidence comes out at some point and justice is served, or the whole criminal enterprise goes free, when it all comes down has to do with circumstances.
I do think if Trump was impeached or resigns with his criminal activities proven, Pence would be completely neutered by the whole mess, and hopefully there would be a Dem Congress and at most a razor thin majority for Rs in the Senate. Not the easiest situation for a President to push his agenda through.

Looks like all this talk about oligarchs has been fundamentally misunderstood by some. The real oligarchs are the global Russian mafia types in bed with the New York yahoos, but anything having to do with Russian interference gets a pass by some Senators...hmm.

(10,270 posts)Vladimir Putin absolutely NAILED our political system, it's shortcomings, and it's vulnerable, Popular underbelly.
What he could never fathom (it seems to this point) is the integrity of our Justice System, our national sense of Fair Play, and our Justice Depts CAREER commitment to the Rule of LAW.
I'm wondering of BOTH of those things stem from the fact that he's a rich dictator, and he's never thought twice about NOT having to answer for his own political crimes against his own countrymen, in a system of justice in which he, and only he, IS THE LAW...

(7,394 posts)Asymmetrical warfare by any other name. If we survive, they will have set us on a new and better path, and all the actions of the GOP will become the new third rail in politics. Fox will run chyrons identifying Trump as a Democrat, and every Republican will desperately try to bury their connections to this foul foreign-sponsored cabal.
We're not Germany 1930, nor are we modern Russia. Americans fought for this democracy over many difficult and bloody generations, and that spiritual devotion to fairness and rule of law will never die. They can intimidate and bribe and coerce and threaten and lie and cheat and steal and murder, but they can't kill us all, and that's what would be required.
Oops. Asymmetrical warfare is going to rebound into Hulk Smash Russian Oligarchs in three, two, one...
