(16,784 posts)ERASE the fact Barack Obama was ever President.
Wait until he has to unveil the official Obama portraits in the East Room and have the Obamas as guests. That is if Trump lasts that long.

(100,068 posts)That's why he's being so careful not to piss them off. That's why he's playing the Fox News playbook 100%. When you are on their shit list, you are on it forever. But when they love you, they will jump off a cliff for you.

(3,491 posts)I have a terrible feeling in my gut, not only about the current state of affairs with the asshole but I also have a terrible feeling that even though were supposed to win again this November and the polls will show we should, that were not going to.
The GOP has done nothing at all to prevent Russian interference in our elections and with, I believe anyway, active assets in our government, theres no guarantee they arent receiving help from the very highest levels.
I was discouraged and disgusted quite a bit during the Bush years but I was never scared, not really. Not like this. Every day is a horror show with these people and nothing is being done to stop it.
I kept saying it in 2016 and Ill say it again. We have to vote like our very lives are on the line. Because they damn well may be.
And we have to stop fueling their idiot base by talking about how easy this is going to be, impeaching the imbecile before any crimes directly tied to him have been revealed and bringing back Madam Speaker.
As much as I like her, this sort of talk only fires up the idiots. Some Republicans who are disenchanted with Тяцмр might stay home but a chance to thwart a person they consider a mortal enemy for no real reason will come out for that.
Im honestly terrified of what the future holds and Im going to fight like hell this year to prevent a further catastrophe. We cant go on like this.
We just cant.

(51,590 posts)do some research first. Also, all those who are concerned enough to RESIST. Resistance takes many forms. Donate in small sums, volunteer at polls and to get the vote out, call and write your reps, etc.

(23,944 posts)America had some political goodwill built up over the last decade, and We The People (with some degree of help from our Russian "friends" decided to blow it all in one place, so to speak. i don't see a quick way back from this disgrace. some stains are quite difficult to remove. assuming the United States survives the next 10 years, we will need to immediately and humbly rejoin the international community at the earliest opportunity, participating in wholesome global initiatives without pretensions to enduring principled leadership, and learning to listen instead of bellowing our demands. it will take generations to repair the damage done by Trump and W before him, our descendants will need to do a much more careful job in safeguarding their government's honor and institutional heritage. but it's going to be a long road back.
jolly old Cicero pretty much nailed it right there.
