I don't, and the reason is very similar to why I no longer eat at Chickfila.

AMWAY co-founder, Richard DeVos, is starting to get more attention for throwing money around to destroy public schools, but he is also quite involved in using his billions achieved through AMWAY to attack gay marriage.
Richard DeVos' comments about gay marriage in yesterday's front-page story have become the subject of much debate, though they're hardly surprising to anybody familiar with his family's involvement in politics over the years.
Last year, DeVos gave $100,000 to a group called Florida4Marriage (now Yes2Marriage) in support of a Florida state constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage. The ballot issue was less publicized on a national level than California's Proposition 8, but passed in the November election by a wide margin.
The group employed tactics such as furnishing Florida ministers with sample sermons as part of what it called "Marriage Sunday" leading up to the vote. DeVos' $100,000 comprised about 15 percent of the group's funding. His contribution led to protests in front of Amway Arena, where the DeVos-owned Orlando Magic play.

(5,756 posts)It's another weird cult in our country. The last time I got roped into sitting through a presentation about why I needed to join the multi-level, pyramid scheme called Amway one of my friends outright LIED to me about why he was inviting me over to his apartment. He, and his Amway handlers knew about their reputation and that I'd most likely decline to attend if I knew the truth.
When I and others got there they just wanted to "share the business" with us. Sound familiar? Like the "Christians" who just want to "share Jesus and everlasting life" with me?
I was so pissed I've made it a point to never deal with them.

(8,421 posts)I'm old enough to remember Phyllis Schafly-the Eagle Forum-(I'm pretty sure Amway donated heavily to her/it).
Amway's Weird Pyramid scheme (who hasn't had the opportunity to look at someone drawing a pyramid of circles for you...?)

(40,416 posts)Which, by the way, includes the infamous Blackwater, a yet another evil creation of Western Michigan Dutch Reformed Calvinist fundementalism.
Grand Rapids and environs is full of them. Next to nothing is open in downtown Grand Rapids on Sunday. They roll up the sidewalks, as we used to say.
That family all but owns GR, and they are evil leaches, all of them. Half the shit in GR is named after DeVos. I think they'll have all the streets named DeVos soon. It'll suit them fine. All directions are the same as long as it leads you to fucking AmWay.
on edit: Grand Rapids also has some good things. Among many is the Reasonable Doubts podcast. Hosted by four former fundies, now atheists, it is a refreshing plunge into Biblical lore, psychology, counter-apologetics, and religious history. Highly recommended. It's intelligent, witty, and doesn't take itself too serious.

Can anyone who served on that jury tell me the gist of what was said. This thread is nearly a year old, someone dredges it back up, and then gets nailed by a jury for doing so? Weird.
