I think it's time we define what it means to be a deplorable.

This word has been thrown around a lot but I don't think we've really spent any time really developing what it means to be a deplorable in the post 2016 election world. So what does it really mean to be a deplorable?

Being a deplorable means throwing out all rules of logic, reason, and debate. Because the only thing that matters is that your guy won the election and you don't give a fuck.

Being a deplorable means that the Golden Rule does not apply to anyone who doesn't follow your exact political beliefs 100%. If that person does, it's Go Fund Me time! If they don't, fuck 'em!

Being a deplorable means that you spend any and all free time that you have harassing your political opponents on social media, because your opinion is far superior to the other side.

Being a deplorable means that you can pick and choose what you read in the Bible and the constitution. Because only 4 words matter - "shall not be infringed".

Being a deplorable means that if anyone attempts to challenge your beliefs, no matter how racist, sexist, homophobic or transphobic they are, you can simply cry "free speech". Debate over.

Being a deplorable means that you can be the most arrogant, classless, insensitive person on the planet. Because your guy won the election and you don't give a fuck.

Being a deplorable means that you have Fox News talking points permanently engrained in your brain. Fuck logic, it's much easier to think with mindless slogans!

Being a deplorable means that you believe in the most batshit crazy conspiracy theories possible even if they have no base in reality. Doesn't matter that Comet Ping Pong doesn't have a basement, they're out to prove "the storm".

Being a deplorable means supporting the most boorish, heartless, disgusting jackass who's ever dared to call himself a leader and being just like him!

If you believe any of these, you might just be a deplorable. Or you're probably also an asshole.

Saying an 81 year old man with terminal brain cancer sang like a canary when he was tortured during his five years in a POW camp.

Double points if you didn't actually serve in the military yourself because you were needed at home to fight the "war of ideas".

Officer or enlisted. NOBODY EVER called McCain a "songbird." He had the opportunity to come home. All he had to do was renounce the US and he (but only him) would be allowed to return to the States. The other "guests" at the Hanoi Hilton would not be released. McCain refused to do so - "We all go or nobody goes" - and for that he received even further abusive tortuous treatment. Lt. McCain had over a third of the bones in body broken and re-broken. Over and over. Many of his bones never fully healed. His wounds became so infected it is a wonder he didn't die of sepsis. The physical pain has never left him, not even for a minute, to say NOTHING of the emotional and mental distress he had to endure. Lesser men would have cracked or given up, recanted or renounced. Anything to stop the torture. But not John McCain.

Yet, he's never sought or asked for anyone's pity. Not once. That's conviction of character. Unlike the arm-chair warriors who never served, never saw combat.

In the military, we have a saying: "It's not that I served and others didn't; It's that I served when other wouldn't."

Honor, Courage, Commitment is the NAVY creed. I'd say John McCain has more than exemplified that.

Oh and, FUCK YOU, Tom McInerney. You're not fit to tie McCain's shoes.

when your lousy candidate only served stateside right in the middle of a war you support where anyone who does not support it "hates the troops."

It is to be for the military only while fighting abroad, but not when they get home, if they suffer from PTSD, call them "wussies."

It is playing the "tough guy" card while also not having dealt with difficult situations yourself and then whining like a snowflake if anyone criticizes your precious "wartime leader."

seize upon it and twist the meaning for their own ends.

She wasn't talking about the ordinary working schmucks who vote republican. She was talking about the known and self-avowed white supremacists and neo-nazis who were publicly supporting Drumpfenfuhrer's candicacy. You know... deplorables.

So then they all start up with the manufactured phony outrage - quoting her out of context and making it sound like she was talking about something other than she was, anything to gin up the conflict and drive a wedge..

Yeah so now OK the meaning has evolved - fine. In fact I am now quite willing to go along with applying that word to any and all trump voter - but especially that malignant 30-35% who still "approve" no matter WHAT.

I just felt like the true original meaning of the word needed to be said.
