Louisiana Tech employee kills mascot by leaving him outside in 100 degree weather

http://content.usatoday.com/communities/campusrivalry/post/2012/08/caretaker-of-missing-louisiana-tech-mascot-says-dog-is-dead/1

In a statement released Wednesday afternoon by the university, veterinarian Patrick Sexton, who cared for Tech XX for the past four years, said he learned Wednesday that the dog had died Sunday evening after a worker at the Sexton Animal Clinic left the dog outside too long.

Community members, students and alumni had been searching Ruston since Sunday night in hopes of safely returning Tech XX to the Sexton family after a worker at the animal clinic reported he mysteriously vanished after he was let out for a bathroom break.

"Regretfully, I learned this morning that through negligence of an employee, Tech XX was left outside too long on Sunday evening and passed away from a heat stroke," Sexton said. "That employee unfortunately chose to handle it the wrong way and attempted to cover it up."

Sexton said the employee has been fired.

That poor dog. Bulldogs don't breathe well and are especially prone to overheating. I'm glad the idiot at the Vet's office who let him have a heat stroke was fired.

I know someone who lost their Bulldog years ago when their adult daughter left him out too long in the heat

My dog is mostly black, rough-coated dog (border collie mix) and the heat gets to her as well.

Your dog is a doll, what a cutie!!!!

Bulldogs have a "unique" personality to say the least. Dog wants on couch, dog is going to get on couch!
