They really just want to speed up its being invaded by the UN to begin the end of the world.

(6,496 posts)Why would anyone want to bring about an apocalypse? These people must be miserable. Suicide isn't an option for them because of their beliefs, so we all have to die? Seems rather selfish to me.

(28,936 posts)It would happen when God wants it to happen and that was set in stone since the beginning of time. They talk about humans not having control of global warming and yet they think they can bring on the apocalypse?

(58,785 posts)I think it was Pew identified 30 million adults who sincerely believed we've all been living in end times and expected the apocalypse any time. They ranged from eager to not so but accepting. And they vote their beliefs.
As said, the general idea is that Jews will ally with Christians to fight Satan and his Muslim hoards (reportedly fighting out of Russia and Iran, but it seems Russia may have been restyled by some). In the end the Jews and Muslims will wipe each other out, leaving the earth, and of course all the Mideast's holy sites, to the Christians and their god.
A particularly nasty sect or two believe their god requires all Jews to return to Israel for the final battle, and to that end they believe whatever means necessary will be required to force unwilling Jews to leave their homes to go die on the far side of the world. Just a little suggestive of the WWII Holocaust, but they insist it won't be them doing the forcing and killing, but their god and then Satan's forces.

(100,075 posts)And I left for that very reason - the church was growing in numbers and *ALL* they did was teach the Book Of Revelations. After 9/11 I decided I did not want to be a part of a doomsday worshipping cult and that was one of the best decisions I ever made!

(15,382 posts)They keep saying so-and-so is the anti-Christ (last big one was, of course, Obama), but they fight against him. I would think that they would want the AC to succeed so they can get their Rapture on.

(24,412 posts)and how they sleep at night knowing that their country's existence is essentially the lynchpin of the Apocalypse being eagerly anticipated by Christian death cultists?

(100,075 posts)You'd think that they would want to be more like Jesus in that they would want to help their fellow man, instead they're more like Satan and wish nothing but death and destruction.

(31,011 posts)I grew up in this stuff and it was always about getting Jesus here, end of the world, anti-christ and all that jazz. It was a weird fascination that creeped me out.

Yet those three issues form the pillars of their faith. Which to me says they're all just a hate cult who want us all to die in the apocalypse...because they hate us. Hating anyone is in total contravention of what the Bible says Jesus taught us to do.

(7,417 posts)They think it's all going up after the "End Times" anyway. Plus, they believe God "gave" the Earth and all its life to humanity to use like a piece of toilet paper anyway.
