Heads out of sand, please

Each day, we feel better, learning more and more about the depths of depravity under Trump. It's easy to think - more and more are being persuaded.

But, sadly, they are not. They are not listening or skeptical. Look at Gallup tracking ! Trash "that" poll in vain - he is gaining. He's back to post election. With all the horror - he has gained !

Listen to the focus trump voters - they think all of the bad things are hyped to reverse the election.

Yet, we have no strategy. We have (unbelievably) no ads (WTF).

I have no answer. Will winning the house back this year make any difference? I hope like hell it will.

I would chip in for sure - if all the Dem leaders went on a retreat - with all the NYC ad types and Hollywood artistic and creative types and just brainstrorm on how to combat this monster. Unified strategy. Creative ads. Money to do it all.

I predict this will get a lot of "you are just pants of fire - no worries" - but forget that and explain how his polls are back to post-election and not the usual - They are all stupid explanation.

guess is that there will be pressure put on the country by citizens to never let someone like trump with russia's help get in control.

The anti trump side is strong and has integrity. You may notice that trump's mouth pieces can only speak to his base. They are weak and lack professionalism and honesty.

When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall, always.

A big lead at the start of a game and then nothing but seeing it dwindle away. No offense no defense.

If the opposition feels we are piling on now...when we win the House piling on will increase. If the same trend continues..the devil will be reelected.

where the GOP has held the seat for decades...we have a strategy that is working, and I resent Democrats attacking the party which has had much success. I would say that if they followed your advice, we would certainly lose. We have good opportunities in 18. We need to run on local issues and the ACA ...this has been very successful. We do have a gerrymander in place that affects the house and state legislatures so while taking the house and just as important is doable make no mistake it is going to be tough ad attacking the party is both unfair and unhelpful in the endeavor.

across without denigrating mine?

Having Democrats win back seats and control local and national legislatures is a great thing ! But it is not the same as taking back the White House. It is a "blocking strategy".

the Senate as we can...so focusing on the presidential election more than two years away seems foolish to me. I see all this emphasis on getting the perfect presidential candidate...and the truth is Congress is just as important. I did not denigrate your point, I simply disagree with it. I think everyone has a opinion as to what the party should do...and they simply can't please everyone... I also don't think what you suggest will work. We need to work our butts off to elect any and all Democrats...and vote for the Democratic nominee in the general. The party can't win for us...we have to do it ourselves. And I simply don't agree there is one Democratic message...it is more and more clear to me that we need a big tent in order to attain a governing majority. Democrats need to understand that midterms are as important as any presidential election.

For all our candidates, of course. But we are in uncharted waters with trump. Without an overall strategy we allow trump to make up anything he pleases to brainwash the masses who are bombarded with constant noise. We've got to rise to the occasion in a unified creative way...big picture. Imho it's been our weakness for years.

13. Our weakness is that we need to vote for the Democratic candidate in the general always...

That didn't happen in 16. And now we have Trump the idiot. Also, imagine if we had President Obama's back in 10 and 14...we had a two term president who played defense for all but two years of his presidency...what a waste. No president can do it on his own. And those who stabbed Pres, Obama in the back because he couldn't get single payer right away made it less likely that we will ever get it.

I see so many attacks on the party and a refusal to look at our reality. We need to figure out that we won't get everything we want...but we can get some if we stick together. For example, we need a 60 vote Senate majority for single payer/Medicare for all. We could be years away from that. But we can improve the ACA and pass a public option using reconciliation. We need to start chipping away...and in the end, we will get some form of universal coverage. The thing that I believe some in the party refuse to accept is that we will need a big tent which means some moderates in order to attain a majority. It is the only way.

5. The party is quietly operating in states nationwide

to help claw back many of those seats and governorships lost over the past decade, because the state parties were either absent or weak.

Remember that many of the most draconian laws have been enacted at the state level as a pretext to make them national. And if we can (also) take back our states by the time of the next census, then we can mitigate what happens with redistricting and a new Congressional configuration at the national level.

The GOP is where they are today because of outright cheating and fraud.

we were able to elect a majority Democratic State Supreme Court and along with a Democratic governor elected in 2014 (who is up again this year), that finally allowed for redistricting of some of the most egregiously gerrymandered congressional districts in the country, that had originally given the GOP a 13 - 5 advantage despite the fact that PA is majority Democratic registration by 800,000.

Now we have a chance to add up to about 5 or maybe even 6 (although at least 3 is guaranteed) more Democrats in congress with this upcoming 2018 election if there is major GOTV. And that is just from one state.
