by Jed Lewison
South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint, one of the most conservative Republicans in the U.S. Senate, says that if Republicans win in November, the tea party agenda will be the Republican agendaand that Mitt Romney has personally pledged his support, even if it means he'd be a one-term president:
We need to do it in the first 100 days, DeMint says. (Mitt) Romney has told me, face to face, that he knows that he needs to get these things done right away. He is looking at this as a one-term proposition.
Maybe DeMint's lying, but given that what he's describing sounds an awful lot like the Ryan plan, I wouldn't bet on it. Whatever the case, it's a question Romney should answer. Publicly. If he's pledged his support to pursuing Jim DeMint's tea party agenda, he should own up to it before the fact. Not after, when it's too late.

Another Senator, another claim that Romney has to address.

Not that I'm defending him.

(97 posts)Mitt should be known as "The Producers" candidate, with one minor exception. There's absolutely no way that any production he would be running would turn out to be a hit.

Jeebus dude, we haven't even begun to mobilize, and you just made yourself a target. A big, fat, juicy, teabagging target.

(11,495 posts)Who is lying this time? DeMint and Romney are both pathetic liars, but if Romney did make such an promise, it will piss off a lot of the more moderate voters, and should rally independents and the left into making sure this moron does not win the WH!
The thing with Romney is he promise everyone something, and if they are dumb enough to believe him, will that's their mistake!

(23,500 posts)Is why is RMoney continuing to move further to the right, even though he has the Repiglickin nomination locked-up?
Why is he not even trying to appeal to moderates? Considering that he used to be considered a moderate Repiglickin himself,
this is very odd, and is obviously contributing to his poor polling numbers. Even if the Repiglicking media puts all that down
the memory hole and starts cooing about what a great moderate he is, not everyone will forget.
They are acting as though the Teabaggers are the only ones who matter, even in the general election. Why?
Are the Teabaggers planning to leverage their control of 27 states with 270 electoral votes (!) to ensure that the outcome
is to their liking, regardless of the popular vote?
