(Video) Texas Lt Governor Dan Patrick made one thing clear on This Week today about gun violence

Last edited Sun May 20, 2018, 03:47 PM - Edit history (1)

HE and his kind are THE threat to MY children.

All the usual garbage in talking about Santa Fe in how the real problem is

you guessed it

Abortion.

That was his first thing in saying how we devalue life before going on about video games movies and the rest. Stephanopolous pushed back in saying other developed nations don't have these scale of issues but Patrick refuses to compare because there are too many variables.

IT'S THE FUCKING GUNS

I'm beyond glad one of my kids is graduating this week. I have three more years of worry for another. But this goes beyond schools because it's happening everywhere.

Fuck you, Patrick. YOU are the threat. YOU.

EDIT: Here's his opening response on This Week after Stephanopolous talked about the Santa Fe shooting.

They refuse to consider even totally common sense remedies, instead pushing more and more gun ownership as the answer, when that is truly the cause. They want terrorists, assaulters, stalkers, people with mental issues, teachers, students, people under 18 to buy guns which will just cause more people to be shot, killed or badly injured. They want no laws about locks or security for guns because then it'd be safer and less guns being bought, that is the bottom line.

Even by Texas Republican standards, he's a shameless shit-for-brains. It comes from all the years he was an AM hate radio performer and executive, yet another Limbaugh wannabe. By the way: his real last name is "Goeb," but he changed it; probably thought it sounded too Jewish.

Is that how life is devalued? You can't talk about abortion in sex ed classes in Texas, last I heard, only celibacy.

Excuse me, after I finish this frappaccino, I have my quarterly abortion appointment.

From politicians refusing to ban assault weapons , and in Nov. the GOP will regret what they've done, and are doing to this country. Especially against these Texas political NRA stooges for the NRA.

I guess Texas had to one up us folks here in Louisiana. We put Bobby Jindal in office and we are still trying to crawl out from under his economic platform. So Texas elects an ex-radio talking head as Lt. gov. who can go on TV and talk about everything from abortion to video games to twitter/facebook as causes for mass shootings, everything but guns.
Is there any way possible Texas will turn blue? How many mass shootings of kids will it take?

Charlton Heston said this aloud during an interview once before walking out: Other countries don't have this problem because other countries don't have the high minority population we do.

That's the codespeak to each other that they rarely voice in public. "Variables," I'm sure, means that.

Hell, the main thrust here is that the parents were irresponsible and there need to be better laws dealing with storage and safety in the home with weapons.

But even something like that is resisted like we're trying to ban all weapons and take them away.

When Hurricane Katrina cost hundreds of poor black people their lives, some preachers said God was punishing us for allowing gays to marry/run free. There is always this sanctimonious self-righteous certainty in Republican Middle-Americans where somehow it's the victim's fault and it's their Christian duty to condemn them and point out their sins. It never occurs to them to help or do the right thing. Added to this is a cretinous inability to see cause-and-effect or reason from a fact. These people's ancestors opposed the invention of fire because it would offend the gods. They believe there is such a thing as 'legitimate rape'. They see every event as 'signs' of God's will or wrath. They excuse their own folksy barbarism as good old American values. But worst of all, they are welded to the gun as the end-all and be-all for what America is and should be about. It is their true God and ultimate symbol of their cornbread superiority over non-whites. Smith & Wesson is the Way and the Truth and the Life. Since I have to share the planet with them, I have to pray for them and do my best to live peaceably with them. But sacrificing our children on the altar on their gun-god and their delusions is not in the script.

response to the mass shootings recently? They are no longer blaming the massacres on 1 thing. It used to be just about music, then it moved on to movies, then they moved on to violent video games, then it moved on to....

Now they are throwing it all out there at the same time. I guess they believe 10 weak excuses equals a strong excuse when they are all lumped together. Well, when they aren't blaming the doors.
