quote:
Adam Smith, former CFO and treasurer of medical supplies manufacturer Vante, caused quite a stir today when he put up a video of himself bullying a Chick-fil-A drive-thru employee in Tucson on YouTube.
Smith berates the worker about her company in the video, which was initially titled Reduce $s to Chick-Fil-As Hate Groups. It has since been taken down (though others have uploaded it too).
"I don't know how you live with yourself and work here," he tells the employee at the window. "I don't understand it. This is a horrible corporation with horrible values. You deserve better,"
Im a nice guy, by the way
totally heterosexual," he continues. "Not a gay in me, I just cant stand the hate.

OK- this guy is a jerk and if you want to see how NOT to influence people watch the video. The CFA worker is a class act.
BTW, the reason he is the "former CFO" is that he got fired for this incident.

(4,340 posts)Don't ever take it out on workers.
I'm happy he got fired. Dumbass misdirected his anger at a more than likely innocent person.

(1,326 posts)What an asshole. Berating and harassing innocent workers, a young girl working for near minimum-wage, is not the right way to get your message across.

(114,904 posts)I don't think SPLC will be adding chick-fil-a to their hate group list any time soon.
And you bet your ass I'd call a fast food worker innocent. at least in the sense you're talking about.

(4,733 posts)was the best way to support the cause? Was it even neutral? I think not. This asshat, to make himself feel important, berated a line worker and though so highly of himself that he decided to share it with the world by posting it on FB.

a few weeks ago?
That's not even an argument. People are in desperate financial straits, but you expect them to hang their heads in shame because you tell them so? Do what you want, call yourself whatever you please, but there are people struggling to survive and need any job that comes their way. This purity bullshit is just that.

(5,756 posts)I almost couldn't make it to the part of the video where he accosted the poor worker. He was such an obnoxious ass from the beginning of the video I just about had to stop it.
Just what "difference" did he think he was going to make by his verbally defecating in a drive-thru at a Chick-Fil-A? All he did by his actions and then posting online is give the Bill O'Reilly, Glen Beck, Limbaugh, Savage, and FOX talking heads a clip of what they will say is a typical person in the anti-Dan Cathy/Chick-Fil-A Corporate group of people.
If this isn't playing on some FOX show this evening or on FOX and Friends in the morning I'll be shocked.

Which I think was OK because he was a total jerk.

I hope he rots in his newly found unemployed state, and good on the board (or owner?) for making such a swift decision.

(7,776 posts)Ok... self-righteous, dickwad... instead of trying to humiliate/embarrass/put her on the hot seat, you could have put your money where your mouth is by offering her a "better" job at your company.
As CFO/management... he was certainly in a position and had some authority to hire her for a better paying job, but he didn't.
He would have been a hero instead of a heel.
Fuck'em.

(239 posts)Great idea ..___..., imagine if instead of coming across as a total jerk, he showed compassion. In a more in sorrow, then ager tone he could have told the girl why working at CFA was wrong, then concluded by telling her she is better than this and offer her a entry level/internship with his company.
It would have framed the discussion in terms of how compassionate the pro-equality side is and how petty CFA is. The internet would go crazy with how cool he was
not to mention he would still have a job.
