How is it that Trump gets to do whatever he wants - even if it is illegal, unconstitutional, non-traditional, etc - and they let him get away with it? From the smallest things like being able to keep his phone that is not protected from possible hacking to what happened yesterday with the DOJ.
Why does the MSM keep giving him a pass? They let him and his people continiually lie to us the American People and they don't call the lies on the spot.
Is this guy really that powerful? Does he have kompomat on everyone and just blackmails them? Or is he that volatile that they are worried that if they challenge him on things that he'll just press the Red Button?
I just don't get it. No other president Repug or Dem would be allowed to get away with the crap that they let Trump get away with. What is going on? What are we not being told?

(752 posts)The consitution.
We should, as a community, come up with plans for how to
fix this dangerously inadequate document. There has been a lot
of experience with democratic and representative government since
it was written, and a lot of technological and social change too.
Everyone is very afraid of thinking about constitutional change,
apparently because they are afraid of what some other side will
bring to the table. What if that happens anyway? Better to
have your own plan.

(19,199 posts)now that would get the fundies going! That would fit right into their paranoiac "new world order" scenario, along with the "great beast" and all of that garbage.
Don't even go there! As fucked up as things are right now, if we got the fundamentalist wackos more involved the world would spin off it's axis very quickly. Mushroom clouds would be the order of the day.

(7,725 posts)Fundies are always upset. At some point they're going to be reigned in, and when the votes re counted honestly, we overwhelm them. It'll be our choice then. If we continue to not act, bc of a perceived reaction by a third (or less) of the nation, we will continue to fail.

The media is totally complicit. Why aren't they calling out FOX for the propaganda and lies that they perpetuate, and the real news they refuse to air?
We're amidst a government takeover, a bunch of fascists masquerading as Republicans. As vile as Republicans have always been, this new iteration doesn't even attempt to abide the Constitution.

They are told liberals are the cause of the worlds problems and must be eliminated or suppressed. They believe its an all out attack by Liberals on Religion and Christian values. They will do whatever it takes to remove what they believe is the root of our problems... Liberals.
Of course they are programmed and delusional. However they voted and he won and now they say he can do this and so he does.

(430 posts)If ANYONE thinks trump is the one behind ANY of these executive orders, they are truly imbecilic. HE just isn't intelligent enough to do one tenth of what he's done by himself.
I'd imagine when candidate trump got the support of the kochs and mercers, he told them he'd do anything they wanted if only he could wipe Obama's legacy out.
Not sure what the score is or how many of Obama's positions have been revoked, but there can't be too many left. I guess his usefulness to the overlords will then be gone.
And once all immigrants and illegals are gone and all seniors are dead and buried, then it'll be ok to bring in "those people" to do the menial tasks for the privileged few who can't do without someone to wipe their own asses.

It would totally compromise the investigation into Trump. Your approach just like Trump's. That's not the way a democracy works. That's the way organized crime works.

(52,205 posts)Trump warned of great danger posed by Clintons emails. Naturally, he rejects security procedures for his own phone.
Basically nothing was sacred to Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign, except Hillary Clinton's email account. This was the one thing he insisted needed to be handled by the book. And in Trump's telling, Clinton's choice to use a private email server while she was secretary of state had grave consequences. At one point, Trump said he was sure that China had hacked her server and that the whole thing was putting all of America and our citizens in danger, great danger.
You'd think a guy who felt so strongly about that would go above and beyond to protect his personal communications once he became president. But apparently you'd be wrong.
Politico is reporting that Trump has eschewed the normal security procedures when it comes to his personal cellphones. He has at least two one for making calls and one for Twitter but the call-capable phone has a camera and a microphone, which was against protocol in the Obama administration because those things could be used to monitor a president's activities and movements. As for the Twitter phone, Trump reportedly has gone as many as five months without having it checked by security experts, despite phones being checked every 30 days during the Obama administration.
...
That sound you hear is 60 million Clinton supporters tearing out their hair. You may recall that this was exactly the justification Clinton used for her private server: convenience. When I got to work as secretary of state, I opted for convenience to use my personal email account, which was allowed by the State Department, because I thought it would be easier to carry just one device for my work and for my personal emails instead of two, she said.

Clearly, this group of rethuglicans intend to win. And they are winning. Every. Single. Day. Every day, whether it's substantive or incrementally, they're winning. They have no intention of doing anything about him or his personal mob. (22,794 posts)the crap you are complaining about? The MSM is not the Justice Department or the Supreme Court. That's where this will ultimately play out. The MSM does indeed report Trump's lies as lies. Haven't you seen the lists? Meanwhile the MSM is sharing what they know as fast as they get it. This is playing out remarkably publicly except for the evidence that Mueller's team is collecting - which could not be used to convict Trump and his cronies if it was released to the public.

(17,862 posts)One example is allowing Rudi to filibuster over his hypocrisy.
These are your words? How are they unfair now? Is it because Trump is a political ally? What really are your standards? Just a few questions MSM could ask.
It started for me with that SOB Matt Lauer and the so called Commander in Chief's forum. He should have had the same five questions for each candidate that exposed their knowledge or ignorance of the most important function of the President. That done with some framing of the questions could have quickly revealed who was competent to be President.
