Trumps land of delusion: Disregard the sycophants; the wheels are coming off, if they were ever on

The denials from Team Trump that they have anything to do with Russia, their assertions that they have no business in Russia, didn't collude with Russia, didn't coordinate with Russia, never borrowed money from Russians, didn't accept dirt on Hillary Clinton from Russia, don't know any Russians, have never met any Russians and have never heard of the country of Russia ring more hollow with every revelation.

Trump's diplomatic pratfall on North Korea forced a pullout from the summit he had sold as the best thing since Trump University, and came just weeks after his breathless followers demanded that the Nobel Institute give Trump the Peace Prize. They did everything but fuel up Air Force One for a trip to Oslo, believing the deal to strip North Korea of its nuclear arsenal and intercontinental ballistic missiles to be done (Trump had basically tweeted as much), with nothing left to do but raise a champagne toast in Singapore.
Almost no one in the diplomatic, military or intelligence community believed for a moment that Kim Jong Un would fulfill his promises; Kim is a con man, conning a con man. Trump never understood that he is the mark in this con game, played by Kim with a helpful assist from Chinese President Xi Jinping.

No matter how much he spins it, no matter how many cute brand names and catchphrases he tries to jam into the media flow, at his core, Donald Trump is a man in a rising sea of legal peril, political risk and catastrophic failures. This explains his increasingly erratic behavior and dangerous efforts to corrupt the special counsel process, the Justice Department, and American institutions more broadly.

(8,922 posts)Why not? He lies about everything else. And his base always believes the lies so why not try a lie on this too.
Hannity can announce to his audience that the committee was "rigged" and that Trump was the real winner, so they are just going to present him with an alternate Nobel Peace Prize, and sell commemorative coins on Fox News.

(5,810 posts)Up to the elbow in the cookie jar. Crumbs all over his pursed lips and sprinkled across his shirt, tie and jacket, he has the gall to say, No, I never touched em. I never ate a single cookie. What makes you ask??
There are crumbs all over the counter top and our intelligence people picked up on them. So they HAD to investigate. They had to look closer at the evidence of what was amiss. And boy, did they find incriminating evidence! Just wish they could have yelled louder at the time. That might have made a difference to save us from the calamity that is the tRump administration.
None of the evidence is made up. The news is not fake except what tRump tries to float. This will be a battle of our intelligence people against a very determined tRump to pull off the scam of the century. Lets hope enough people wake up to how they are being manipulated by tRump before we lose all of our rights.

(6,917 posts)Democrats can work with conservatives Republicans like Rick Wilson, people who will speak truth to power at great personal and professional risk.
Adhering to principles of justice and loyalty to American democracy, they are willing to break away from the tribal mentality of Trump supporters and radical ideologues in general.
Having them feel comfortable among Democrats, who support the same principles of justice and loyalty, builds a bond that isolates "the base". Sadly, when cornered, "the base" will likely launch the most desperate attempts to escape culpability.
So what to do? Reasonable people must attack and expose Fox News. Sure, all the others are just as destructive to American democracy. But Fox is the Goliath. So, like the story, let each of us hurl a rock at Fox News until it goes down.
Oh yeah. And bring back the Fairness Doctrine.
