All primary season the only outcome that really got me enraged was the homophobic, pro-life, anti-immigrant Dan Lipinski eeking out a win over the wonderful (and one of the few candidates who united most of the centre and the left national groups) Marie Newman.

Mainly, if not all, because of millions of dollars of cash pushing horrid attack adverts and mailers etc by centre-right/RW groups like Lieberman's, etc. Many of these groups also supported Republicans in other races. It was a fucking hit job.

“He’s more vulnerable than he’s been in the past,” said Susan Stephenson, a teacher in Modesto who does not support Denham. “The issues are more critical and people are paying more attention.”

Though Democrats have long called Denham a prime target, the Republican first elected to state office in 2002 has repeatedly shown himself a survivor. While his San Joaquin Valley colleague, Republican Rep. David Valadao, disavowed Trump last year, Denham stuck with the GOP presidential nominee in a district where registered Democrats outnumber Republicans.

Denham still won re-election by beating beekeeper Michael Eggman by 3.4 percentage points, though it was a markedly narrower victory than the 12-point margin he achieved over Eggman in 2014.

The district, covering all of Stanislaus County and part of San Joaquin County, is 38.8 percent registered Democratic voters and 36.4 percent registered Republicans.

What would be the cherry on top would be to see Andrew Janz hand Nunes his ass this November!

Not likely in red CA-22, but I'm sending more money to Janz today. (Paypal makes it easy!)

VOTE!! Send money if you can.

I SO hope he runs for Senate in 2024. He can never run for POTUS or VP, as he was born in Taipei, Taiwan.

I could have guessed that, though -- Morning Joe started with mournful memorials to D-Day and then RFK and a declining America.

Oh, and now it's a very lengthy discussion of the Eagles' non-visit to the WH. Joe is a very sad conservative this morning, too distressed to talk about it.

CNN's conservative anchors were talking continually when I left a half hour ago about Democratic Party worries even as they were forced to spin reports of Democratic victory after victory.

I hate our primary system.

I want (I wish all states had this, now 14 do)

Semi-closed primaries, in which unaffiliated voters may participate in the primary of their choice. Voters who are already affiliated with a political party can vote only in that party's primary. Gives indies (who are the biggest bloc of voters) a chance to vote and have input and thus care more in the general, but blocks cross-over bollocksing (mainly by the Rethugs).

In 39, 48 and 49 but all three will have a dem on the ballot and all three were won by Hillary. These are three crucial flips. Very important.

When I do vote totals, the race looks very close, slight lean republican or toss up. If you take into account republicans generally turn out better for primaries, an uptick in November could push the Dem to victory.
