As of Wednesday afternoon, only seven of 31 candidates endorsed by Our Revolution -- a political group affiliated with Vermonts independent senator -- had been declared winners. Another two races were undecided.
At best, fewer than one-third of the endorsed candidates won.
Following the elections, Sanders sent an upbeat message to his supporters.
"Tonight, progressives won a number of important victories," he said in a statement. "When we talk about the political revolution -- people standing up and fighting for change in their communities -- that's exactly what these candidates are doing."

Tuesdays results raise questions about Our Revolutions impact, and by extension about Sanders role as an influencer in the Democratic Party, the party he operates within while remaining an independent. This might well be because many Democrats have embraced Sanders issues such as a $15 minimum wage and universal health care.

Going forward, how effective Sanders can be in doing more than influencing the debate, and actually help put people in office, may be key to the Vermont senators presidential ambitions in 2020.

(30,481 posts)You have a point. If Im going to make the argument it should be focused on that which I have a problem with, OR. Most of the candidates they are endorsing are brave Democrats with little support. Ive read about plenty about some of the candidates they have endorsed and liked them a lot. Not all of course.
Im confident that OR is little more than an organization to manage email lists and keep a certain group of people attached as someone preps to run. I think they should be fair game when it comes to criticism.
These races are personally difficult for candidates. I applaud them for jumping in and giving it their all.
