$50 Says That This Time Next Month

Baby jails will be a distant memory and we will be dealing with yet another catastrophe, this time of even greater proportions. Maybe an invasion of Canada.

And it will all be Obama and the Dem's fault.

Time to start holding the fuckers completely responsible for all their evil actions.

Agree ...

I think I read that this was a temporary measure.

Fatso-in-Chief will come up with another catastrophe, and blame Dems for it just like he blamed them for this Zero Tolerance Policy which separated babies/toddlers/children from families that he signed in April 2018.

People forgot about Puerto Rico pretty darn quickly, and they are still in trouble. The hits just keep coming, faster and faster. We have to push back by keeping all the stories relevant and holding the orange asshat accountable for all of them.

Unless, of course, the fact that the Trump administration has "lost" some of the kids or some of the parents, and isn't able to reunite all the families it so casually tore apart these past two months.

I for one don't plan on letting this go quite as easily as the administration hopes.

Puerto Rico suffered a major disaster, and he claimed victory after throwing out a few rolls of paper towels. They are still in trouble, but no one is paying attention anymore. PR is part of the U.S.. How much attention will foreigner children be receiving in a month?

It's not you or anyone on DU who is forgetting. It is the media following the latest assault and neglecting to cover the aftermath of all the previous assaults.

Someone, some enterprising young journalist, needs to get in there and take pictures. Those pictures must be circulated from now through November (at least) and then brought back in 2020.

They just need to keep it up. Think of the outrage that single picture of the two year old being taken from her mother caused. A dozen pictures like that on the covers of several magazines and newspapers would go a long way.

If a few of them decide that today is their last day, they could use their last hours to take plenty of pictures and video. I can guarantee you that the first few employees who decide to do so will be rewarded handsomely for their pictures by the media. This could be a way to strike back: gofundme for people willing to give up their jobs at the camps and submit pictures of the atrocities.

To the point that the loading and unloading of the planes will be televised. I have a gut feeling that we will be watching tens of thousands being loaded onto planes and sent back to their countries of origin.

Immigration courts in Republican states will be ramped up in July or August to deal with people currently held. The immigrants will then be held until closer to the end of the year as ICE continues to hire more, in the thousands by October. Many at this point will be held on military bases. The flights out will start near the end of the year.

Trumps base wants it. It’s being set up. It might sound outrageous to us but it isn’t to millions of our countrymen. Ice and the immigration courts are ramping up. They are slyly bringing the concept of using military bases for housing. No private company would take part in this. They will be returned on military planes.

Of course, it will be difficult to impossible to get pictures/video from a military base. We shall see if enough people are willing to follow this story to the end. Sadly, I think war with Canada will divert what little attention is left.

who have capable memory processing abilities.

I’m 70 years old and I remember even tiny parts of events I’ve witnessed in my life.

I remember exactly when I heard about JFK’s assassination. I remember every scene of the next few days which took over the tv 24 hours each day. All in black and white with that distorted footage that televisions had in those days.

I remember in detail the scenes of brutality on black marchers in the South. I remember the chills I felt the first time I heard MLK’s “I have a dream” speech. I remember how I felt when he was killed.

I remember the nightly news showing us the Vietnam war with soldiers carrying the dead and wounded to field hospitals. I remember journalists like Dan Rather reporting from, the war zone, ducking so as not to be shot by the Viet Cong. I remember being in a naval hospital in Chicago and seeing a bunch of soldiers with limbs missing cutting up and suddenly being thunderously admonished by an officer for acting like it was a party.

I remember thousands of things and the feeling accompanying them. I will remember this too, for the rest of my life. Human beings have an amazing and inexplicable ability to remember.

But we need continued coverage to cause enough outrage that we can effect change. It took a LOT of outrage over the past week for him to reverse position (even then, he left some wiggle room for the future).

Remember 9/11? Remember how everyone had those bumper stickers/car magnets that read "never forget"? When was the last time you saw one of those bumper stickers/car magnets? We had TV coverage of the anniversary for the first few years. Then we had it at five years. I seem to recall having one at ten years. But that was the last we heard about it. But the outrage during the first couple of years got us into Afghanistan and Iraq. The GOP had control of the narrative back then, and they used it to start wars in two countries. Well, the GOP is still in control of the narrative, and they can bury the detention camps if they feel it will hurt them.

Wed Jun 20, 2018, 07:53 PM
Jun 2018

Just because we don’t always talk about it doesn’t mean we don’t remember.

We had a 9/11 memorial in NYC in September 2016. I bet you remember that it was a very hot day and that Hillary stumbled on the sidewalk before getting into the van and the Right exploded out their minds with Trump making his exaggerated claims that she had dementia and that she was old and weak and insinuating that she couldn’t do a man’s job. And then she had the nerve to walk out to the van looking perfectly healthy and smiling, in high spirits and cheerful.
See! I bet you remembered all that and maybe more before I even went into the details.

My point is that anyone who is aware of the details of these detentions will never forget them. Nor will we forget the final understanding of the depths of depravity that finally clinched our real understanding of who and what Trump is. Major lesson learned here.

Some of them died, but that doesn't change the fact that they were paid crisis actors.

See, when the GOP is in control of the narrative, they get to dispel the nasty rumors of truth. Now Gonzales and Hogg and the gang have taken a backseat to this current detention camp crisis. They are old news. It's disgusting!

Question: since the implementation of the presidential policy of incarcerating children deprives (or has already deprived) them of fifth amendment rights (freedom, e.g.) - which, remember, are not limited to citizens - why isn’t the order to carry out such a policy by Trump a violation of Trumps oath of office? And if it is why isn’t that violation an impeachable offense (abuse o power?) to go along with any that Mueller is working on. No Russians needed!
