On Colbert, he described being invited to speak at an Alzheimer's awareness event, a cause he supports, and two young fans asked for a photo with him. He was happy to oblige. Then the kids' father showed up and asked for a photo. The dad was Paul Ryan. Taken aback, Rogan *refused* to be photographed with Ryan and furthermore told him why: I hate everything you are doing to this country, and I can't wait until you are no longer in a position to do harm to us.
I'm so proud because it was in front of Ryan's kids--Rogan said he was aware and concerned about that, but he felt the sons needed to know about their father--and it was so unexpected and sudden that the normal response would have been "sure," but Rogan kept his head about him and refused.
Go Seth Rogan!
The public shaming we are seeing of members of this administration is heartening. When is the last time we've seen a white woman refused service at a restaurant in Virginia? When has an elected official been hounded out of a movie theater by shouting citizens?
I think the tide may have turned.
Jesus, I hope so. I don't know how much more of this I can take.

(58,785 posts)but Rogan had another reason, of course, for refusing to be photographed with Ryan. It would have been used by professional spinners and amateur to claim and "prove" his support for what he opposes.

(58,785 posts)no matter how courteously, will rally millions from various groups to hate any celebrity in these insanely partisan days. Just look at many of the threads here, and we're the good guys.

(17,658 posts)you are right.. I think public shaming and shunning is the only thing that these sub humans will understand. I just hope Im strong enuff and brave enuff to shun them in the same manner if I have the chance too. But I have Patti Murry, Maria Cantwell, Pramila Jayapal, Bob Ferguson and Jay Inslee representing my state...not too many to protest unless we get Cathy McMorris Rodgers cornered somewhere.

(16,104 posts)- for those who by nature seem to lack it (R's) - is to experience intolerance for themselves.
To be shunned, shamed and ostracized is probably the only way to get through to these people.
Most of us learned this stuff in kindergarten, but it's never too late.
