The reason Trump dominates the news cycle and Du is because his threat is existential to our national security , our leading position in the world, our friends and Allies, the cause of freedom, Democracy, human rights, war and peace, global warming, survival of the species, American health insurance needs, clean air, clean water, consumer protection, decent living wage, educational resources for our children, safety and security for our students at schools and many many more depend on us winning.
If Trump is elected for a second term kiss America as we know it goodbye for a long time. There will be more lethal, more dangerous and a lot smarter Trumps down the road. They will use his tactics and strategies to win and they will be better liers. Trump did not win on a positive vision. He won on fear and hate. Trump resurrected old skeletons and common misconceptions and brought them to our living rooms and our bedrooms and he had a ready audience that ate it all up and still asking for more.
He won on raw emotions and a powerful machine of right-wing demagogues, racism, a powerful and resourceful adversary named Russia and with the help of the GOP there was no checks and balances.
Trump is not just a crazy person, he is a poisonous snake and he poisons everything he touches. Like the snake poem he used to recite during his campaign, we invited him in by voting for him.
Mainstream media is trying to maintain professionalism in reporting. The view and the opposing view as close to 50-50 as possible while Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, and Fox News to name a few right-wing demagogues deliver only one message,
Pro Trump all the way even if they have to lie and lie. So a simple equation tells us that our message gets 25% while the Nazi pro-Trump massage gets 75% of total exposure in the media, and we wonder why our message is lost and his message succeeds in fogging the truth.
We should be positive, register voters, organize and do all the traditional election preparation needed at the same time realize what we are facing. Even our great Constitution can be suspended in the presence of clear and present danger.
Such danger can be real, it can also be manufactured by a pathological liar and his supporters especially if they believe they are saving our country from us.

I know it sounds schoolmarmish, but somehow we have to resurrect small "r" republican (god, please don't misunderstand my meaning with that!) values. I mean respect for the republic. Respect for the behavior that is needed to maintain the republic. Like: respect for the value of each citizen, respect for the immigration that made our country, respect for the rule of law, a habit of sharing our time and resources for the benefit of the republic once our own needs are met (i.e., as a culture we need to be disgusted by the wealthy who hoard that second billion that the work of others has dropped in their laps.)

I believe that the reason he did dominate the news cycle during his campaign and does so now is that being well versed in self promotion he has figured out how to work our current breathless infotainment media that rarely brushes up against journalism but rather fills the airwaves with the latest outrage about the newest bright shiny object between ads for drugs that we didn't know we needed.

The GOP goes along because it allows them to work in the shadows on such great legislation as the recently passed tax bill and coming soon Medicare reform.

There is no rocket science here, just distraction.
