National Guardsman: Immigrants Are 'Lucky We Aren't Executing Them'

An Oregonian national guardsman who left a violent comment about immigrants on an online fundraising page is now facing an unknown punishment, according to a Monday Washington Post report.

“Waste of money,” Gerod Martin wrote on the Facebook page for the online fundraiser working to “reunite an immigrant parent with their child.“ “They’re lucky we aren’t executing them.”

The Oregon National Guard confirmed that Martin is a private first class guardsman and that he will face some punishment for the comment. Martin has reportedly been a member of the National Guard since 2013.

The Facebook page has received over $20 million in donations to date.

When he and his community are finally put on the trains and enter Germany, Elie Wiesel mentions the big irony was that had they come in as undocumented immigrants, the penalty was death (if they weren’t just executed); Jews “only” had to go to the camps, where there was at least a slim chance at survival. That Hitler was also fond of blaming Germany’s problems on “illegal immigrants” and did so frequently to fire up his base is something the media should remind us of.

about this is that this morning, I was telling my husband that the 'no courts, no recourse' thing Agent Orange was twitting about is really only a small step from summary execution.

I hope this guy gets more punishment than a slap on the wrist and an admonition to not say that again on social media. (Which is what I expect him to get.)

Officers arent much better, especially in the O3-O5 range. I have a over 100 active and retired military, mainly army, friends on Facebook, most of whom I had served with or met through it. While I have not seen anything posted as direct as this Guardsman posted, I do see a lot of hints and joking, stuff right up to the line, posted often, from many.

It should be noted that the sense of humor amongst the military, especially those in combat units, can be pretty fucked up, but shouldn't be taken too seriously.

I know some have a dim view of our military but the disgusting conduct of this guardsman don’t reflect the armed services in any way. We have a zero tolerance policy for discrimination, and I have no doubt in my mind he will have the book slammed over his empty head for posting such contemptible shit.
