@AndrewFeinberg

As @PressSec repeated the lie that “Democrats want open borders,” I called out “that’s not true!”

She ignored me and kept on lying.

it's a whopper and obviously chosen to pretend that there are only 2 choices: the Trumpster way or wide open borders.

The Trumpster has been using it, now Sarah 3-names and I suspect we'll be hearing more supporters touting the false charge: The Democratic Party supports wide-open borders, free-for-all immigration policies.

That's a Pants-on-Fire Lie but it ties into their sick rhetoric: we're being invaded, infested, etc. It also takes the spotlight off their inhumane treatment of and attitudes toward babies and kids.

...that I know a very educated, intelligent Democrat who has voiced exactly that sentiment. Open borders between all countries.

Think about it... What if we allowed natural migration for non-criminals?

(sorry - I am in internationalist, so I kind of, in idealistic terms, share the sentiment...)

hold that view. We're a sovereign nation and as such need border control. In an ideal world, open borders could work. But we don't live in that world.

However, a fair, humane and sensible immigration program is possible and necessary to prevent the debacle we're seeing now. There have been a number of proposals over the years but Congress has refused to move on anything.

My point is pretty simple: if we don't define ourselves on this issue, the Republicans will do it for us, painting all Dems as open-border proponents and against basic law & order, the whole gang motif.

It's already started.

She can go on camera to deliver the propaganda and talking points, they can watch from their office. Then they can prep a piece that fact checks all her bullshit and publish it as a group effort in all of their respective papers/media the next day.

However I still think it needs to happen. Or at the least, coordinate with each other. I.e., when she says something untrue such as this, have the next reporter call her on it rather than change the subject and move on.

https://www.politico.com/story/2013/06/immigration-bill-2013-senate-passes-093530

in 2013...
The Senate on Thursday passed the most monumental overhaul of U.S. immigration laws in a generation, which would clear the way for millions of undocumented residents to have a chance at citizenship, attract workers from all over the world and devote unprecedented resources for security along the U.S.-Mexico border.
The vote was 68-32. Fourteen Republicans crossed the aisle to vote with all Democrats in favor. Thursday’s vote now puts the onus of immigration reform on the Republican-led House, where leaders have been resistant to the Senate legislation.

Republicans blocked it...
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/first-read/why-immigration-reform-died-congress-n145276

no reasonable person can say that immigration’s death -- in 2013 and 2014 -- is anyone’s fault but House Republicans. Still, we also understand why they killed it: They saw no short-term benefit.

Journalists:

For EVERY major issue, please keep a notebook, paper or digital, with short single-sentence facts like the above to throw at the camera and the clueless, lying Republicans. Every time. And don't hesitate to repeat it. Get with the information age please. I'm not a journalist, but I practice the above in the streets and it WORKS.

They lie even when called out on it because they are never punished for it.

The media knows how to deny media attention to ordinary people and democrats who lie, but for some reason they give republicans and infinite pass.
