Listen to a distraught Guatemalan child call his mother from a U.S. immigration shelter

Very sad. The child is just crying the whole time.

Mother: Remember that God exists. Kneel and cry to God. Ask him to help you get out of there.

Child: Everytime I go to sleep, I pray for you.

Mom: "We didn't kow that things were like this. If we had known, I would not have let you go with your dad."

1. As a former first grade teacher I am experienced in child behavior

and I can tell you that NO child who is scared and anxious will be able to remember anything told to him, even in his home language, or be able to keep a slip of paper that is given to him by US officials with his name and number and any other info that he is told to remember and not lose. Kids are terrified and they can not do this! They most likely will not be able to be reunited with any family members without help from caring adults who will represent him in court and at the detention facilities.
