Question about July 4th on a Wednesday... is this normal?

What is the normal procedure where you live vis-a-vis municipal/professional fireworks displays?

On both Sat June 30 and Sun July 1 I've heard long, persistent, loud, complex booming noises consistent with large fireworks displays (can't see them from my yard though). So I assume there are "July 4th" fireworks displays going on nearby -- I suppose in the abstract they could be post-sportsball-game fireworks, but that isn't consistent with what I know of nearby sportsball schedules/locations.

I don't have any noteworthy recollection of the last time July 4th was mid-week. Is it normal to do the nominal July 4th display the weekend before where you live? Or only on the day proper? Or the weekend after?

5. The holiday is ALWAYS on July 4th - not a weekend.

However, fireworks displays are often held on different days, depending on the community for whatever reason. My hometown always held them on the night of the 3rd. That gave them a rain date of the 4th, just in case.

Greensboro NC will do theirs on the 4th. Surrounding smaller communities may do them a different day in order to get people to watch their firework display.

No fireworks in my part of Colorado due to extreme fire danger. The mountains have been burning for weeks now.

8. Officially, my little town has a ban on fireworks

The town does a fireworks display on July 3, not the 4th at the town park. And, despite the ban, the police do nothing to stop neighborhood fireworks. Every year I have to go out and check the roof to be sure that some half-burned material didn't land on it. Our dog spends the 4th under my bed. The cats, although indoors always, are nowhere to be found. Although I really enjoy the large, professional shows (Seattle does a beautiful one), I can't say I'm a fan of local fireworks. Some doofus around the corner has a fucking canon!!! When it goes off, it will shock the piss out of you.

set off a quarter stick of dynamite in the street

i told him if he ever did that fucking shit again i'd call the police on him, tell them he keeps all kinds of crap in the safe in the bedroom and i'd press charges.

(other than that we got along until he beat the crap out of his sig. other whose house he was living in)

(she wouldn't press charges because he was a high school teacher and would lose his job. they were both big, all american republicans--turns out he was the complete package: family history of child molestation, incest, physical abuse) (puke)

call the cops if that jerk fires off his canon. (it's probably dynamite and chances are it's illegal)

A local guy misfired a canon that went through the side of his house and killed his wife. Now he's in jail for his idiocy.

he gets reported every year. If anything is done, it hasn't been a deterrent. I haven't heard it so far this year, but it's not the 4th yet. I hoping that one of the houses that sold recently was his!!

started last night and will happen every night, up until, and including the 4th... officially the 3rd is the date here, but people around the lake seem to have access to some pretty serious firework displays... it's pretty much a week long celebration here!

I can sit out front and watch if I care to...
