(37,161 posts)How long ago did they start campaigning against Democrats as "the enemy of normal Americans"?
How long have they fetishized hatred of John Kerry? Of Dan Rather? Savored the bile that flowed into their mouths at the mere thought of them.
Decades.
And it took them caging kids to be refused a chicken dinner.

(31,528 posts)It got worse after 911 when they co-opted the flag and declared that anyone who didn't agree with them was un-American. And it has all been fueled by talk radio and Fox News.

(4,546 posts)high school in the early 90s (we had been in school in the 70s). I was wearing a little crescent moon necklace. As soon as I stepped out of the car, her eyes locked on my necklace, and she said, "I hope you're not one of those tree-huggers!" Why would you say something like that? I guess she thought it was funny. It wasn't. I knew then, as she proceeded to tell me all about her new hero, Rush Limbaugh, that things were going off the rails. She also told me how she had become "born again," and knew that Jesus was gonna "heal" her lesbian daughter (who had just come out to her family). I listened to all of this in shock... it made no sense to me. This was nothing like the girl I'd known. Nothing. I never went back to see her. Just couldn't. But yeah, for me, that's how far back it goes. They took my friend and twisted her soul into something unrecognizable back in the late 80s.

(37,161 posts)...your ex-friend is a "victim of discrimination".
And they complain about us "playing the victim card."

(29,090 posts)Especially with that "far left" crap...
Recently, a supposed Democrat on Morning Joe railed against Elizabeth Warren as "far left" when she is, iin fact, no more than a traditional New Deal Democrat -- I wanted to punch him.
The "Far Left" is Communism, which, though legal in this country, has a base of about 8 members.
I'm tired of people throwing around terms they refuse to define.
